His show is not good. I tried to listen but he is a rude dude. He will shout and bout and do whatever he wants. Hey it's his show right. I say pass on him. His time has come and gone.
2, actually. My soon to be fiancee's (when i get the money) mother's boyfriend and one of my cousins's father (doesn't deserve to be called my uncle) both of which are as slimy as they come. As far as the Calvin thing goes i didn't really care about all of that stuff for the same reasons in you're last sentence. If he was innocent, i want to see him on tv not because he could be a good person but because he's entertaining. That's all that matters to me.
I know I heard him say once "Nothing but net" when the ball hit the back of the rim and went in. He is too chill to worry about the subtleties. Clyde is one chill dude.
Would having 2 out of the 5 girls coming forth to admit they made the story up because they were mad over money help his case? Just asking? Well, he was legally married to her...the money was his. He didn't have to give the girls anything. There were kids that did receive financial assistance from him and there were some that didn't. For the ones that didn't, maybe the stripping in clubs and the drug abuse had something to do with. I have a lil more inside info since I know them, but I'm not saying he was the best of fathers…but he's no molester either. We live in a pass judgment/pass the buck society and it's a shame.
Lets just say her mother's boyfriend is safer in Iraq and Saudi Arabia right now. The difference to me is that i don't know those people or their situation. As with OJ, if my family is safe and someone was acquitted than i really don't care what happens to them after that. I like Calvin Murphy's entertainment not him as a man. If OJ was a decent commentator for football then i would have no problem watching him.
sjackson0: thank you for bringing that (recanting) back up. it was reported in the media, but most people overlook it. as soon as the 2 daughters recanted their story, it was over. also, how is that that a man that dealt with 1000s of kids yearly via camps, etc., never had one of them allege ANY kind of misbehavior? especially after the case became public? typically that's a trumpet for any and all or at least SOME of those who may have been molested to come forth. yet not one person stepped forward. not one! imo, calvin was railroaded and its a shame. he (obviously) loved working with kids and he will never be able to do that again. take a man's joy away and you'll see an empty, bitter person (radio show).
Do you have inside info Old Man Rock? else no one really knows anything except for the party involved.
Les clearly wanted to get rid of Calvin long before that incident with his offspring. His continued refusal to bring him back most likely stems from whatever reason he personally dislikes him, and this whole 'molestation' issue has been merely a convenient shield behind which Les has been able to hide. But Calvin was innocent of those charges, and Les has now decided to bring Crazy Ron-Ron to town, so my whole point is that Les is now in the position of being exposed as a hypocrite if he continues to keep Calvin from the seat in which he belongs. If he is willing to bring (and possibly inflict upon his team, his franchise, and this entire city) the craziness that is Artest, then he should at least be willing to bury the hatchet and bring Calvin back too.
speculation is speculation, unless you are in the Murphy household you'll never know. I can speculate that Clutch is Superman, but I wouldn't know unless I see him fly.
I agree. If you bring back one ethically-challenged person, you should be required to hire all ethically-challenged people that fans want. I demand Les bring back Vernon Maxwell too. If he doesn't, he's a a total hypocrite. There couldn't possibly be any person-specific circumstances involved.
Given how many children Calvin has with different women, it's easy to see he made some mistakes, and couldn't have been a good father to all his kids. With that in mind, that case reeked of resentment from his children for not being there emotionally or financially, and seemed like a way to get back and at him and get a piece of the pie. He wasn't just found innocent, the stories against him didn't make sense to the point that everyone knew the outcome long before the verdict. I've never heard his radio show, but I have no doubt it sucks. Given license to talk about anything, I bet Calvin is way over the top. As an announcer for the Rockets though, he reigned himself in. I always thought he was entertaining and insightful. Still, Bullard is extremely insightful, and knows exactly what he's talking about. I would have to give him up. In my mind, best case scenario is a Bullard, Calvin, Worrell trio. If that happened, and SF3 actually made a contribution this year, I'd know it was destiny that we take it all the way.
That's isn't really fair. Calvin was railroaded, and not treated fairly. Do you think Vernon was railroaded and not treated fairly? The two people are hardly comparable. And of course there are person-specific circumstances between Les and Calvin, that's the point. Les has conveniently used the whole family issue around Calvin to stonewall anyone who wants him to bring him back, but now, he can't really hide behind the 'We don't want any 'bad guys' here in our organization.' It is bad PR for him to remain so petty.
Its probably those loud ass pimp suits that Calvin wears....... some of those things were so brite ya had to wear shades to watch the TV
Calvins is a good man, always helping under privaledged kids in the community. I have met him on three different occassions and he was always just the best guy when it comes to athletes. I asked for autograph and picture and it was always yeah buddy no problem anything for the fans. The molest thing was all about money and his kids not being included in the mothers will. So the kids made it up to get back at him. If he was a molesting kids, why haven't any of the kids in Houston that he has helped in the past come out and claimed anything against him. He got the wrong end of that deal and also think too what if he had given some of the money to the kids how would the publics perception of him be then. (That he paid them off? so he was in a no win situation). Now i like Clyde he was really nice in person to me as well, but i have to say i much prefer Calvin over him and the jabbering back and forth between Worrell and Calvin was classic....Now imagine with Bullard now on board? Why not have Calvin back on away games since Clyde doesn't do them? Just a thought.......This year is going to be special! Go Rockets!
Are you asking me did I see him expose himself in front of his 5 daughters and molest them? The answer is no. But what I would ask you is to read below and afterwards answer me if you would let your kids attend Calvin Murphy's summer camp. LINK Yes he could be innocent and all of these people could have joined forces in an attempt to destroy Murphy but IMO that is probably not likely. I am a father who has made mistakes but no matter how mad my children could be at me I could never imagine them do something that would be so damaging. And we are not talking just 1 daughter. So believe what you will but personally I don't want Murphy anywhere near the Rocket organization.
Was this the same Grand Jury which acquitted Joe Horn after he specifically said "I'm gonna kill 'em" before he went on the shooting spree?
