Maybe it's like saying "we tried to have the coach come back, but he quit and wants to retire" when they actually fired him....or saying "we tried to have the coach come back but he quit because of cancer" when they are actually fired him. Know anybody like that?
Why not sign Drexler then? He looked to be about as fit during the celebrity game on Friday night as McGrady has been this season. Clyde's career playoff stats are pretty amazing too. You can't compare McGrady's (declining) career numbers to the guy on the court this season.
But you CAN compare his existing playoff stats vs. his healthy regular season numbers... now, can't you? Yes. And that's all I'm saying. Les is technically right.
Sure. If you, I mean Les, don't mind being intellectually dishonest to a degree that is painfully obvious.
Les sounds like he WANTS to deal t-mac. I don't know, I could be reading into it too much, yet had he could have used the words 'definitely', 'absolutely', or 'certainly' in that sentence to qualify his loyalty to this statement, and didn't. The choice to omit them I would guess is not a mere oversight or happen-chance wording, given the pressing interest on this issue. I mean seriously, this was a press conference about a business arrangement. Not about trades, Tracy, Ron.... The Tmac response was only a necessary defense, really to avoid the issue so he could promote his commercial interests. In fact, he actually dropped a bombshell foreshadow, indicating there would be an "announcement" in the coming days about Tracy. The tone doesn't sound good for McGrady at all... OH n DARYL, Plz keep Artest and not McLady. Signed, Skeptical in San Marcos
How so? Show me the stats... or better yet, look at them yourself. You can't say the same for Yao... can you?
T-Mac looks like an old man. He's a shell of his former self. Yao just went 9 for 15 tonight with 12 rebounds.
I think Les and Morey know that they are not in a high-leverage situation with McGrady at this time. His market value only goes up if they wait. Either: 1) he gets healthy and becomes a contributor again 2) he remains the same and his expiring contract becomes more valuable at next season's trade deadline as teams panic, trying to add more cap room to make a run at a free-agent (or get under the luxury tax line) 3) a season/career ending injury is found, in which case his salary can be paid by insurance, making his expiring contract even more desirable. I think that Morey believes in sticking to a plan, and the plan all along this year was to see how Ron fit in and frankly, he hasn't. So... they're shopping him, just as Clutch and everyone else in town has been saying. This team still needs a reliable outside shooter. Someone to open up driving lanes by making his defender stick to the perimeter. Someone that can make teams pay for double-teaming Yao. They don't need VC, or his terrible contract.
I'm aware of the stats. I'm also aware that those stats were produced by a guy who looked, moved, played and even weighed nothing like the guy wearing #1 jersey for the Rockets this season. Why would I? This isn't a Yao thread.
As much as I hate TMac this season, I will still keep him because of his $22M expiring contract... That means that we are going to be a big player to land a big name free agent...
The red quote strikes me the most. The verbage just seems less than firm. I don't get it, it almost seems like he's undermining Vince Carter. Morey has lied often in the past, but my memory of Les isn't so clear. I really hope this is damage control and somehow the trade ends up still going down. All in all the entire thing is suspicious...
Just so people don't get too upset, tracy comes back and plays well next yr,he's gettinf a extension at a reduced rate.
I personally cheer for the jersey and always have, I just want my team to do well. But as for the "Tmac Hater" thing goes, what exactly has he done for this team that demands respect from the fans? Honestly I wish nothing bad on the man but taking a step back and looking from a third party perspective, what do fans owe him? He has taken the Rockets no where, and yeah it might not all be his fault but their are plenty of situations that you can single him out specifically (yet, same goes for Yao) I dont know, maybe im just a distressed fan but I feel like the negatives with Tmac as a Rocket outweigh the positive
We were talkin' bout... playoffs... playoffs... The quote referred to was Les speaking on... playoffs... Playoffs in which T-Mac's personal stats have gone UP in average... every time he's in them. I just made an observation.
Maybe he'll turn it on in the playoffs. Will he get better than this year's T-Mac? Could be. Will he get even close to the younger version of T-Mac? Most likely not. Right now "turning it on" could mean he goes from 15 ppg to 18 ppg on sub .400 shooting. Not my idea of special.
F personal stats. That ish means nothing..... Give me a W, and some heart to go with that W..... Clutch, The story/thread title is whack....... LES NEVER SAID ANYTHING OF THE SORT!
Hi, and welcome to clutchfans! With that out the way Fixed it for you But true about everything else.
