Just not in the 4th quarter of playoff games. If you're expecting anything spectacular or even something close to McGrady of previous years (not that he has been very good over the last two playoff series) you are in for some disappointment. Tracy needs to call it a season. Either he has some mysterious injury that will eventually be found and will end his season or the 15th world-renowned specialist in a row will tell him he is fine thus proving beyond a shadow of a doubt that the guy is a mental marshmallow. If it is proven once and for all there is no injury then he has no business coming back to the team and bumping someone out of the rotation who played their hearts out all season long while he goofed off in rehab and held press conferences so he could tell the media he knows more than the doctors do.
and that's why we got him help. maybe instead of putting up 25+ in the playoffs, he can put up 21-22ppg, but focus on getting 8-9 boards, 8-9 assists. he has an injury. it's NOT mysterious. but he just has to cope with it and play through it. is it more serious or not? like les says, we'll know in a few days. but from the looks of it, tracy will come back and play.
"I don’t think we’re going to part ways with Tracy," That is far from, "We won't deal T-Mac".... Or did I miss a different Les quote?
I'm not quite sure how this is "news". T-Mac is untradable by DEFAULT. You don't get a choice Les, lol.
He won't play through the injury. He isn't playing now when specialist after specialist tells him he should have been playing all season. So seeing how he won't play when the experts tell him there is no injury what do you think he will do *if* someone tells him he is injured? He thinks he knows more than the doctors. I just don't see how the 15th time management tells him they want him to play is going to change things. He will play 2-3 games and look horrible, then shut himself down and hold a press conference. That's the trend this year. It's too late in the season for anymore of his antics.
i enjoyed reading that, Dave. well done. (and props for 'mental marshmallow.') here's my conspiracy theory: -although tracy's a ***** both mentally and emotionally, his knee will never be back at full strength. the only way it might recover is through microfracture surgery - but the Rockets made sure that the Chronicle put the kibosh on any such reports, b/c otherwise there'd be no hope of getting rid of him. unfortunately, KPRC Channel 2 ran the story. -morey is not stupid. if you read ESPN.com's chad ford's summary of the latest trade talk, it almost sounds like someone from houston is feeding him a lot of our home-cooking. any professional NBA analyst would shudder at a tmac-for-vc trade rumor as being too one-sided. fortunately, someone's mouthpiece has been out, emphasizing the salary cap boon that would befall NJ if they took such a deal, w/o any real mention of how broken tmac is now, in every possible facet of his game. -leslie alexander puts out some positive quotes, emphasizing that tmac is a "superstar" who comes through "in the playoffs" and how we're not gonna trade him just b/c everyone wants him to. this serves two purposes: (1) it's a last-ditch effort at boosting his trade value as a player (instead of just a salary cap boon next year) with some puffery, and (2) it's a way of publicly endorsing tmac in the event that we're now stuck with him until the offseason, so that he doesn't sulk the rest of the way.
Jesus Christ why does Les love this guy so much... because he has the same nonchalant attitude. He is making his money and keeping his team in the news. Tmac needs to hang em up for the rest of the year, hes embarresing himself, and doing nothing for this team. Hopefully Les has enough of a grip on the reality of this team to at least know they are better without him.
