....when old hakeem, who had the strength of a draft horse, was effectively sold to the glue factory:

If I cared about being right more than rooting for the team, I'd put up a sig bet on this. Everything I know about basketball says that the Rockets would be worse off under Adelman. But since I'm rooting for them, I'm not going to bet against them in any way.

Hakeem was done at that point and should have retired. It was the right move.

I will do my best to fly above all your rhetoric and drop little bomblets on your head.

Maybe that will knock some sense into you, but probably it will just make your hair stink.

Based on Moneyball's unconvincing track record in Boston Celtics, the GM pick up last year by Les is questionable. On the other hand, getting rid of Gundy -- who is a proven failure in the WC playoffs -- definitely puts the Rockets in a more favorable position to hire competent head coach and attract free agents.

Moneyball was an assistant GM at Boston. They've got Danny Ainge *shudder* running the show there. I really don't think Morey had much say over there.

That could be a valid excuse, but doesn't it also somewhat cast shadows on Moneyball's inter-personal/managerial/leadership capabilities and skills?

So Les is basically trying to convince JVG to retire so he doesnt have to fire him......Whats wrong with that???? Les is trying to not make JVG look bad (which is more than what he deserves, considering he'd cut or bench a player one sec he doesnt perform)........and he's interviewing a coach who is in high demand, considering there are various other coaching vacancies around the league, and he doenst want him going elsewhere.....again, whats wrong??

The only thing thats making this hard is JVG knows he's gone, but he's daring Les to fire him, to make himself look like an scapegoat......and Les is firing back by not firing him and dragging this thing til the end of the playoffs.

I know Les is not perfect, but put yourself in his shoes. Here is JVG, who is loved by the media, to the point where they are blinded by respect so much that they dont even realize JVG's stay here has been utterly unsuccessful. Still, he has tried everything, from not extending him, to interview other candidates, to offer him another position, to drill in his head he's not coming back. Step down already Gundy. But he wont. He'll keep making Les look like a bigger ass for not firing him.........I guess if he fires Gundy, that'd be disrespectful, if he doesnt thats disrespectful.......whats to give here???? I'm just sick of Gundy. Leave and let us be already!

    Save your breath.

wnes blames the cabin boy for the Titanic, he chalked up the Hindenberg to the bartender. He's got a hard-on for MOrey so he's going to charge him with kidnapping the Lindbergh baby and the Kennedy assassination if possible

We have very little concrete evidence of what Morey's actual role with regard to basketball was w/Boston. He wasn't even an assistant GM, he was like the head of Operations and info analysis or something like that, and that he worked heavily on the Operations side - that means analytics for ticket sales, etc. Thus far all we know for sure is that he provided statistical indices for the celts to use in making player evaluations - to the extent that they were used or relied upon by Ainge the man who made the moves[/b[ has never been known, though we have speculation about the Scalabrine move that goes both ways.

Firing a coach is disrespectful? I guess, but firing him and then telling a bunch of lies about it is even more disrespectful

This is the NBA. FOUR COACHES were fired this season, each time, without these shenanigans. Les is the only one (and remember, this is the second time he's engaged in this) who wants to have his cake and eat it too (fire JVG AND come off not looking like the bad guy)

Les is the owner, so last time I checked he can handle his business the way he pleases. We are fans, not shareholders.

Right on! Dumping JVG was Les' prerogative as the boss man, but he became jerk man by waiting this long and trying to act as if it wasn't his call the whole time. I felt the same way about Rudy's firing and I thought Rudy needed to go. Unfortunately, this is just the way Les does things.

Which is exactly why we don't give a sh-t whether or not Les personally looks good or bad when he fires people so its an insult to our intellgence when he tries to curry favor with us by lying about Rudy and JVG - both of whom were fired, by HIM.
