even if this is true, he still wont sell the team.

it's not like he wont have enough money to pay for the teams expences.

plus the team earns money. if he sells out of the marble company and then the rockets he wont have any money coming in. sure he doesn't need it, but it's obviously better to make money than to not make money.

If Les ever sells the team, I hope a young or an up tempo owner with fresh ideas takes over the Rockets. I see franchises like Dallas and Cleveland and they've got something going on. I'm not talking about from a basketball standpoint but from the business side of things. From promotions, advertising, and etc.

I disagree, I think the promos and advertising have been generally good. Sure they have corny slogans, but that's part of the appeal. Clutch the Bear is one of the better mascots, and the Red Rowdies have injected alot of life into the ToyBox.

So what are Dallas and Cleveland doing on the business side that is so great?

I wish we could own this team like the 700 Packers' fans. Imagine what that would be like but then again who has that kind of money?

Bob McNair got any spare change left?

He is classy guy and I would love to see him own 2 Houston sports franchises.

The Rockets have been getting MUCH better about it over the past couple of years, especially with the Red Rowdies, the musical selections being played at the games, the new basketball court, the new public address announcer, the "It's Time" promos, and etc. Everything about the atmosphere is much better now. I LOVE it. I hope none of that changes. But, you have to admit that the atmosphere at the Toyota Center was pretty pathetic when they first moved into the building.

What teams like Dallas and Cleveland are doing? They are getting the ENTIRE town into the team. Granted, Dallas is a lot better than the Rockets and people always love a winner, but it seems like the atmosphere and the "aura" of the team is exciting for Dallas folks. I don't know if it's just the fans in Houston but the majority are pretty bleh about the Rockets. It's too baseball/football heavy here. I know it has always been like that but the popularity of the Rox to the general public seems iffy when you compare it to the Texans and Astros.

That was 10 months ago which is the equivalent of an ice age in investment terms. They said the guy was bleeding money as of recently.

You're right, the Mavs fans are getting into it because their team is winning (ie. bandwagoners). Cleveland, they have Lebron being spoonfed to them (and the rest of the league). Of course their bball fans are getting into those teams. Their promos are nothing special though, they have the same cookie cutter promos and advertising with most other teams. When you win or have Lebron, it's easy to sell to your city.

The Rockets have done a great job with advertising and promos, they can't help it if the city is more a football and baseball town. Or that the friggin lower bowl has alot of empty seats because the corporate schmuck and his client decided to go to the T that night.

Easy on the panic button. I'm sure Les didn't become a billionaire by selling off his cash-earning assets every time there was a stock market correction.

That really isn't so hard to figure out, is it?

Les's shares maybe mostly free chips already and the shares also continue to generate dividends. It's not like Marblehead is filing chapter 11.

I dont even think Les concerns about the stock price because there is nothing he can do about the financial market troubles. Les's only concern should be how to make the company more profitable and continue to grow.

The Cavs' owner Dan Gilbert is in more troubles than Les because of the financial market troubles.

Oprah should buy the rockets. Maybe then we would have the rich folk come to the games and stay int their seats for a change.
