wow thanks tikwanleap... that second article was definitely a damn good read there's three things about Leon Smith I can see, "I had certain problems to work out on my own," he says. "I had it in my mind that all coaches were alike. They just wanted their job and didn't care about the players. He (Bickerstaff) was pulling for me, trying to help me get myself together. A whole lot of teams wouldn't touch me, and he was calling me and keeping me stable." his changing of schools, failure in the NBA seemed to revolve around a coach Leon Smith couldn't trust or a coach that didn't understand players (or try to understand Leon). secondly, he seems a very obstinant guy.. stuck in his ways and a perspective of the world from his own (but u can't really blame him.. his entire life has been traumatic and no people stopped to really first deal with the trauma of Leon and then his basketball). when he gets a thought, he'll act on impulse to carry it out until it's over with. thirdly, the things he has done/said are rather "out there." he needs a stable relationship and family environment to succeed and keep him in check. I can see why NBA teams definitely stray from him. two and three are definitely a combo to be wary of. he lived in houston for quite a while... and Rudy might be one of the few coaches in the NBA that can "understand" Leon and be patient with him. i'd want the rocks to give this guy a shot... but then again, i'm not one of the guys who'll have take the risk and then understand Leon.
