I'm glad I bought a Rubber Chucky Jersey this year. He's our most important player!

    Rubber Chucky?? LOL

That is really fun to read.

We have 6 of the top 8 two player combinations. I agree stats may not mean much in the long run, but its nice to see that we look sucessful that way.

As some of us predicted, Chuck Hayes leads the league in +/- points. Looks like he's going to be holding down that starting spot for sure.

And for those of you who don't appreciate the value of Rafer's leadership on the floor, get this: he's tied for 5th in the league with Tim Duncan and Bobby Jackson in +/- points. And no, it's no fluke. Anyone who has been watching these games with half a head on realizes that our offense always looks disjointed without him on the floor.

It's not just our offense - Bullard did a diagram last night showing how Chuck's rotation on D helped turn a potentially easy basket by Villanueva into a turnover. Chuck's very quick to identify where he needs to rotate when another player double teams or leaves his man to stop a penetrator. If he can just get his fouls under control and get a 10ft jump shot, he'll get the start at the 4 position permanently.

It's too bad, then, that Hayes fouls out of every game.

Not surprising, with the 30-pt blowout of Dallas in a sample of just a few games.

substitutions.... our 1-5 seem to have a very solid balance/chemistry, but we've yet to reach that level of chemistry with our subs; i think that was expected though. it will take a month or two before we can really tell what we have from top to bottom.

Well I was talking about Rafer as far as the offense goes .... but you're right. I saw that play breakdown (which reminds me -- I just can't say enough about Bullard's commentating skills. He's so good.)

I also remember him breaking down an offensive play showing a nasty pick Chuck set on someone that resulted in a wide open jumper for T-Mac.

couldn't agree more. i've only been able to watch the jazz and bucks games, but i noticed the exact same thing last night. alston is a quality point man, makes good decisions, has great court vision, and is a decent defender. his shooting still seems suspect (at least it did last night), but he just controls the offense better than anyone else on this team. i remember a few possessions when head was running the point and we just looked lost out there, no flow.

You can thank Tubby Smith for that, Chuck flourished under the ball line defense at UK which is where he developed those instincts. I am sure that JVG added his defensive knowledge to it as well, but it started way before he got to Houston. :)

Another stat I found interesting, was that Sefolosha was #3, by far the highest rookie. It sorta gives credence to the Rockets wanting to pick him, if we hadn't done the gayBa trade.

On offense, what about his unreal pick that allowed McGrady a wide-open shot at the top of the key. I just thought the defender fell down until Bullard diagrammed it and showed Chuck setting a vicious pick at the free-throw line. Chuck and Shane are incredible at setting picks and taking real charges.

chuck and shane ARE what's going to make this team great. they are true basketball players, and deserve to be starting. I REALLY REALLY like our starting 5. chuck and shane are so perfect to what we want to do. if only chuck was 4 inches taller.... :D

Are the Rockets really as good as the Lenovo stat? Or do they just own the worst shellacking of an opponent during the first 5 games of the season?
