Its a hit financially for nbc. Its just that local channels are getting screwed by the leno lead in.

I think I read somewhere that Leno's ratings in the 10 pm slot are much lower compared to whatever NBC had at 10 pm last year.

Of course, why wouldn't they be lower? Last year they had excellent shows like Life in the 10pm slot, which has since been cancelled.

It took a near revolt by fans for them to decide to renew Chuck.

NBC really has some geniuses up there on 30 Rock making programming decisions lately.

Conan is the best. But I keep missing the show

I could see why older people don't really feel him. I find him to be hilarious.

Isn't Conan dominating the 19-49 demographic?

Conan is hilarious and the only late night talk show host that is even watchable imo. Fallon is better than Leno who just sucks. He is not funny. Conan is a smart and clever guy and it shows in his humor. Jay is just bland and generic.

Looks like Carson Daly is the odd man out.

If Conan stays, will he have to go back to New York?

NBC to Conan O'Brien -- The Choice Is Yours

Posted Jan 8th 2010 12:25AM by TMZ Staff

NBC has given Conan O'Brien the option to either do his show from midnight to 1 or leave the network, sources tell TMZ.

As TMZ first reported, after the Olympics, Jay Leno will get his 11:30 PM time period back. We're told network execs have told Conan they will let him decide if he wants the midnight to 1:00 AM time slot. If he does, Leno's show will only be a half hour. If Conan walks, Leno will get a full hour, informed sources tell TMZ.

Our sources say Conan has not decided what he wants. We do know he's pissed, because he was given no advanced warning this was coming. Conan's people told NBC they are considering the offer. Translation: Mr. O'Brien -- I have Rupert Murdoch on line one, Stephen McPherson on line two, John Landgraf on line three, Jeff Wachtel on line four ...

We're told if Conan gets another offer, even though NBC could block the move, they will let him go and give Leno the full hour.

How's Kimmel doing these days in the ratings? I grew tired of him a while ago. Perhaps Conan could go to ABC. The only problem is that they are unlikely to re-slot "Nightline", so Conan would still be coming on at 12/11 cst.

There just doesn't seem to be a great option for Conan. Fox, Cable, or back to late night on NBC or ABC.

I liked it the way it was before cause I don't catch his show as often and not a big fan of Jimmy Fallon. I don't like that new announcer guy on conan's show because it seems like he tries too hard.

i think he did retire and then after all the ducks were lined up for conan to come take over he changed his mind.

i dont think they are giving conan enough time. im not a religious watcher, but i find myself checking out the tonight show more than i have since carson was there. i always liked conan too - i realize that his quirky humor might not translate as well, but i think he could find a balance b/t being a goof and still having mainstream appeal.

first they screw letterman and now conan - i hope conan tells them to shove it - and even funnier if jimmy fallon did too. that would leave them w/ leno and carson daly.

he is a better interviewer than leno anyway. and his skits are hilarious - the first few weeks he was there had some classics - conan driving his 1992 green ford taurus all around hollywood. him and andy canoeing some concrete drainage ditch and 'camping' on the banks of it - huddled around a fire and conan singing songs on acoustic guitar. conan going into compton and wandering around.

In general leno seems like a nice guy. He doesn't destroy his guests and treats people well, and I think Americans like that.

Only good thing about Letterman was the top 10. Leno has always pissed me off. I record Conan and atleast watch the beginning banter but since hes moved to the tonight show it hasnt been as good.

I hope another channel offers Conan the same time slot and NBC has to compete with them and lose viewers. Sucks that Letterman will come out on top. If the right channel picks up Conan it could be good, he may have picked up some viewers in the good time slot that follow and with his original fan base he should be able to out do Leno. As long as Conan can go back to being himself.
