Happened before I was born, but I miss him, I can't imagine how much people who grew up with him must feel. Is there is a musician today who would evoke this kind of grief and sadness from millions of people? That's one way to measure what he meant to this world. RIP John.
Per Manny-- "I was 7 when it happened. I was really too young to understand what a loss this was but I do remember feeling that this was a huge thing since it was discussed for the next week or so. I don't even like to acknowledge Lennon's death because that is only giving that idiot Chatman the attention he so desperately wanted." That is an excellent point- Mark David Chapman took away someone we all loved. I am glad we remember him though. I will never forget.... __________________
When I wake up early in the morning, Lift my head, I'm still yawning When I'm in the middle of a dream Stay in bed, float up stream Please don't wake me, no don't shake me Leave me where I am I'm only sleeping Everybody seems to think I'm lazy I don't mind, I think they're crazy Running everywhere at such a speed Till they find, there's no need Please don't spoil my day I'm miles away And after all I'm only sleeping Keeping an eye on the world going by my window Taking my time Lying there and staring at the ceiling Waiting for a sleepy feeling Please don't spoil my day I'm miles away And after all I'm only sleeping
2yrs before I was born. Never been really into the Beatles. As a band. But, John, as an individual, the things he stood for, and his contribution, always stood out to me. And he's always and will always be one of my most respected, most appreciated songwriters.
