I think it's fully accurate since talent includes jumpshooting and defense, where Yao eats Bynum alive. Let's face it, in a playoff game, Yao would eat Bynum alive on offense, while making him struggle on defense. Since the Lakers aren't going to double Yao, THAT is what's important. I think Bynum is every bit as good as Oden and Shaq are going to be this season, and probably edge the two out slightly. But he is not in Yao's territory simply because he lacks the experience to put all his raw talent (shotblocking, rebounding, post game) into consistent offense + defense within a team flow. Yao WILL put up 20/10/2 this season even if he takes less shots because he will be more efficient with shooting and focus on rebounding/shotblocking more. THAT is where Yao is in his career. Bynum's GOAL is to put up 20/10, and Phil said it's impossible. Again, I agree that Bynum will not let Yao take his foot off the pedal throughout a series. But Bynum is to Yao what Shaq was to Hakeem in the Finals - the high-potential student.
So, Stats only count when talking about Odom but when it comes to Fisher you have to see that he out hustles and outplays Alston in other areas??? Go back to LALA land "Asian Sensation" and don't put "Asian" in ur handle. Ur giving us a bad name.
If Artest's history of crazy didnt haunt him then I dont know any team that would take Odom over Artest. In terms of heart, Offensive/Defensive production, hustle, and ability to change the game. Odom has NEVER been known to be clutch. AND DON'T SAY FISHER... get outta here laker fan.
Derek Fisher is about 5 years removed from being any kind of "answer" for a championship team. The same Fisher that kept getting burned by DWill in last years playoffs? At this point, he can't even keep up with Rafer.
I'd rather have Fisher then Luther or Brooks, I will say that. Since we are in a win now mode anyways.
If that's really the comparison you want to make, Hakeem and Shaq were not far apart at all in that series. Contrary to popular opinion, they pretty much canceled each other out.
where was that "heart of Champion" when they couldn't advance past the 1st reound, after accomplishing a 22-game win streak in 2nd half of regular season. ? if the Rox choke again in round 1 of playoff, you need to change the slogan to "don't over-estimate the hearts of chokers"'
this is and forever will be Clutch City. don't bring this garbage here, home of back to back championships... Houston will meet LA in the Conference Finals
Fisher is over the hill but Jordan Farmar is the better PG he has a great three point shot and can also finish at the rim.
But we just has one capable PG in rafer. Brooks is less mature while steve's injuries may sideline him temporarily. Then, then only valid and capable is just Rafer Alston, but the cavs owen three pretty good PGs. Mo williams, delonte n Gibson, which one should morey trade for? I know the cavs lack a big guy in paint even though they have Big ben and Big z, besides whom they have no capable paint player who can keep other big guys off the rim. Not to mention varejao and joe smith. But we have many 4and5 and even hayes will have little game time due the fact that our paint is rather crowded. I think scolandry are enough for the PF position while yao n deke(i'm confident morey will sign him before the season begins), and Dorsey and Hayes seem tradable.(remember we have ron now, he can play PF and push scola to c if necessary when yao or landry is down). I think cavs will agree to trade delonte for hayes or dorsey who can strenthen their paint a little bit.
We still need to see how productive Bynum will be with Gasol now on the team. Meanwhile, we already know what Yao's going to give us, and I can't see Bynum topping that even remotely.
Considering neither Bynum or Odom are man enough to take a position coming off the bench its going to be rocky at the start of the season for LA.
Then stop trying to sell Odom and Fisher over Artest and Alston. and STOP telling us that Bynum is not far from Yao. the ONLY PLAYERS on the lakers who match-up or exceed ours are Kobe and Gasol and okay maybe Farmar but I believe in Rafer and Brooks. so get outta here with that laker love. end of discussion.
This post is worth getting demoted to rookie, but it looks like you're already there. It's called a difference in opinion. That's allowed here, and it doesn't warrant ad hominem attacks like calling someone a "laker fan". That's just below the belt.
