Defense wins championships. We'll make the stops when we need them. The Lakers are not capable of doing that. As long as the Rockets stay healthy, I know asking a lot, we'll be fine. With the addition of Artest, T-mac won't be asked to carry such a big load and hopefully that will keep him injury free. And with Yao limiting his work load, he also has a good chance of being injury free.

Bingo. I remember in the finals last year, even guys like Jerry West were saying the Lakers are too soft to win the championship. I respect the Lakers for getting to the finals last year - they're not chumps - but I don't fear them because they don't play defense.

At least, Fisher is a famous clutch shooter! Our PGs are not good at playmaking, and, they are not good at shooting either!

So the Lakers don't win a championship, even if they're facing a team other than the Celtics?

Doubt it. They just were up against a better team, a team that won 66 games in the regular season. And they didn't have Andrew Bynum. They will be a force this year.

I really don't know why they are on the team. I think Morey should be able to find better ones.

LOL good answer. I agree that Alston may not be great in the playmaking or shooting dept. but we don't need him to be. We have enough playmakers and shooters on the team. All we need him to do is get us into our offense and play great D which he does both very well.

If we don't need Rafer's playmaking and shooting, how can he get us into our offense?

    Huh???????

Luther is an excellent shooter and is pretty good and taking his man off the dribble but can he run our offense? Playmaking and shooting is not required to RUN and offense.

I really see us struggling like we did last season in the start and then picking up the pace sometime before All-Star Weekend. I don't think it will be because of injuries, rather, it'll be a learning period.

    Is this a satire?
Lamar Odom is one of the most overrated players in the nba. he still can't drive to his right, and his defense is shotty. I honestly don't know anyone who would say Artest=Odom and if Odom brings his "A" game then Odom > Artest. AND
We are a Derek Fisher away from winning?? saying that we need Fisher to win it all. that's like saying we needed Stockton to win our first 2 championships.

stop defending fisher. he is a sub-par starter who happened to win championships with two of the most dominant players of our time. (shaq and kobe). I take alston over fisher any day. i take kenny smith over fisher. screw fisher.

This is not about Fisher. This is about our PG position.

Everyone now can see the problem of our PG position. It needs to be fixed. At least, if Francis cannot back to the court soon, we have to trade for another backup PG.

    I agree.

Even if you take out either Yao or Tmac, we're still the team to beat.

    We got talent.
    We got toughness.
    We got depth.

We got the rowdies too. ;)

Agreed, if the team is already assembled. This lakes team however, needs some major tooling.
