I got sick of the horrible quality downloads and spyware that found its way onto my PC via those sites I used to "borrow" from, and I don't have the time or interest to sit in front of the PC for hours searching for a few quality tunes I'm interested in. It takes a matter of seconds to find what I need on that site, the quality is always excellent, and I'm helping build the Russian economy so we can take over China as a team. I'm a team player. Thanks for correcting my ginormous mistake, though. I run into a lot of walls and I forgot my helmet today.
I believe you can still buy songs for .99 a track, though they what they heavily promote is the leasing program. I have a Napster premium membership for $10 a month. I use it mostly to listen to songs that I haven't heard in a while or to explore new songs. I haven't bought that many songs outright from Napster - only about 30. Emusic uses mp3 without DRM issues. You get 40 tracks for 9.99, 60 tracks for 14.99, or 90 tracks for 19.99. You get billed once a month, and if you don't use your tracks, you lose them when they get reset in 30 days. They have a free trial offer of 50 downloads, but you have to make sure you cancel or they will continue to bill. You won't find some of the bigger stars like Kenney Chesney or Britney Spears, since they focus on independent labels. So, if you're looking for Clear Channel Top 40 stuff, you need to look elsewhere. I have used allofmp3.com for a about a dozen tracks, though I am skeptical about their legality and have decided not use them anymore.
If they sell the same drugs in Canada for cheaper, sell the same clothes & shoes in China for cheaper, the same music in Russia for cheaper, the same pet medicines in Australia for cheaper why insist on paying inflated American prices? Its called price transparency and the economic thingy called competition. The EU started their currency the euro, among other reasons, to combat the inefficiencies of different prices for the same product just across their internal borders. Do people who use VoIP steal from the phone companies? They are using the same phone lines but it cost like 1/20th for an international call. All products & services that can be transferred electronically or shipped will eventually have 1 price worldwide online (plus shipping). Globalization & the internet are here to stay so embrace it don't fight it.
