I have a couple of nephews who are playing junior college baseball; both of their parents have spent thousands on them over the years and dedicated thousands of hours to their development as baseball players. I have had students go on to play NCAA basketball and football, and all of them either paid for individual coaching outside their teams or had parents who now coach, but played semi-pro or professional ball. So, it makes sense that legacy players are sprinkled throughout the NBA and other professional leagues because it takes so much money to raise them.
