Does anyone else find it stupid for Lee. P. Brown to be running a campaign promising to fix the public works department? He now has advertisng, promising that if he is re-elected, he will clean up the Public Works Department, make sure potholes are fixed, eliminated gridlock downtown, focus on roadwork at night and weekends, stop the closure of adjacent streets, and force contactors to finish street repairs in a timely manner. He's also going to fix our aging water and sewer lines. I know that this has become a campaing issue because it IS a problem, and is the major focus of Chris Bell and Orlando Sanchez. BUT -- isn't it silly for Brown to be promising these things? The problems have been around for a while, but they've become much, much worse under his administration. At worst, he's created the gridlock. At best, it happened under his watch. How can he promise now, to fix it? He'd be better off to say he's working on the problem. To say it's been a problem for years, has been a priority of his, and now he's going to fix it... just begs the question -- what has he been doing the past four years?
this is stupid, no doubt...but not nearly as stupid as the ads he's running for his new plan to solve traffic...hey, idiot...you've been the mayor for a while now...why haven't you implemented any of these "creative" solutions yet??!! I know synchronizing traffic lights carries with it all the complexity of a shuttle launch, but come on!!
http://www.chron.com/cs/CDA/story.hts/topstory2/1094387 Now he is riding the back of the tragic death of a firefighter to promote a plan to fix the fire department! HEY lee p, maybe if you had done this years ago, this man could still be alive! what incredibly terrible timing by lee p. How can a man THIS incompetent be the mayor of Houston? It simply baffles me.
Jef has created and maintains the web site for Brown's re-election. ty webb, there is nothing "incompetant" about what Brown is doing. It is a somewhat sleazy way to get yourself re-elected, which is a characteristic trait of the modern politician. It takes a skillful politician to know how to use a tragedy to your advantage. Take Sheila Jackson Lee, for example. If it's a disaster, she will be there to get her face on TV. Jeff said once: "What's the most dangerous place in the world?" Between Sheila Jackson Lee and a camera.
