All the poll results indicate is that Led Zeppelin is more popular than the Who. So, that makes them the better band, right? For those whose favorite band isn't The Beatles, Led Zeppelin, or Pink Floyd, take your favorite band and do a poll against any of those 3. You'll get the same results, regardless of whether you use The Doors, Aerosmith, The Allman Brothers, Queen, or any of those great bands. I mean, could you imagine if I put up a poll like:

    The Smithereens vs. Pink Floyd

Guarantee you my 1 vote for the 'Reens would be the only one there. Most likely.

Please - after typing up that post, I read the 20 page thread in D&D where you cried about getting deleted from facebook by Batman Jones. In that thread alone, you were called out for not using the words "rationalize" (by gifford1967) and "vouch" (by vinsanity). You have done a great job, so far, in this thread of not giving us some great lines such as "a freaking rabbit in public..with cohorts that are muted" (what does that exactly mean?) - but the point is that I am not the only person on this BBS that has noticed this trait about you.

Probably because a) I quit paying attention to it until this thread, b) you have been banned during the times that I have been able to post more than usual, and c) your "awesomeness" is such that it doesn't matter what I say to you, you are just going to keep coming back for more because as mentioned before, that is how you roll.

So I am a "troll" for

    1) standing up for myself in my OWN thread to your obnoxious, boorish but typical BBS behavior
    2) stating factual information

As I said before, I never knew you were that sensitive about that despite the fact that you would think that you be used to it now since it is your posting MO.

I am not understanding what you are saying with the last sentence there. It could be a case of me being "dense" (as you called me earlier in this thread) or just that "good ole" FFB non-sequitur way of conversing on this BBS - either way, I am confused, Fatty. :Confused

I don't think it is a secret to anyone here that I enjoy music and it is what I hang my hat on, so you posting all those threads showing that accomplishes exactly what purpose? I do like the fact that you make it out that is all I post ("What Is in Your CD Player?") about when the current "What Are You Listening to" thread has been going on since, I think, '07 and we are in '11 right now. But you got me again, FFB.

I got as much rep as you did for making the remarks you did about Batman Jones' girlfriend. And I learned a long time ago that it is definitely not cool to rag on someone's family. However, there is really no need to hit below the belt (and if you remember, I did admit to you I was out of line) when all I have to do is keep hitting those lobbed softballs you throw me with your whole shtick of Internet BBS angry guy bravado which may or may NOT be real.

Listen, F***tard. (oops, not proper writing?)

I pointed out a thread with the exact same content as this; something that has been done on this board since it existed. You took offense and whined like a little b****. Considering your remarks last year, I wasn't going to stand for it.

You're a piece of trash, and one that apparently has no other thought in his head other than wondering what people have in their MP# player.

You two are clearly roomates who have gotten on the same cycle and are now just vomiting up hormone-induced rage on each other.

Again with the profanity and name calling. You still have not figured out that going this route, that you insist on, causes you to have no credibility whatsoever. It is too bad that Batman Jones and you did not have that debate because he would have absolutely destroyed you.

I'm sorry that your thread from SEVEN years ago wasn't memorable enough to me or anyone else other than yourself. Hell, I don't even remember threads that I started that long ago. What do you do in your spare time - read all of your old threads because it sure sounds like it. And I can't find (right now) the thread that had you and me going at it over the remarks of your son; however, if I remember correctly, I think it had to do with your usual cavalier attitude of drinking and driving and me calling you out for that as a bad example for your son. As a parent of 2 children myself, I am not going to listen to some bozo (sorry for the name call there) brag about their drunken escapades and how they can drive on the road when there is a possibility that I may have to share the road with someone like you. I would rather keep my life and definitely my wife's and children's, thank you very much. Now if I got personal with you and dropped cheap shots on your son for some other reason then I was truly out of line and apologize. I would like for you to bring up the thread in question if you can so we can really see what happened and was said.

    Hey Fatty,

    What's a MP# player? More insults, I see. That's fine, as I said before:

And on cue, you deliver another vitriolic, hateful spewed post. And guess what, Fatty? More rep for me! Part of me wants to continue in this sham of a debacle debate with you because you have given yourself FAR too much rope to hang yourself. So, to see you get banned again over me calling you out in my own thread for trolling and getting so worked up over it is priceless. The only problem though is that if you do get banned, I'll probably stop getting rep points. Quite the catch 22 situation, know what I mean? Er, don't answer that...

Haha, hey cut me some slack, rimmy. It has been some time since I have been engaged in a pissing contest like this. It can be fun to be in an INTERNET WAR with someone that acts like Fatty. It is not something I would want to do on a regular basis, but every few years?? Sure, why not!

Led zeppelin is the better band, because they made more good music and covered a vastly larger range of music. The who is obviously one of the greatest bands of all time, yet zeppelin was so much more diverse. They had the whole spectrum of rock, the metal, the beautiful acoustic music, lots of jazz, and were clearly pioneers in what we call "electronic music" now. Im sorry, its like comparing Hakeem and Robinson. Both among the greatest of all time, but a clear winner.

Had you ACTUALLY forgotten it, you would've said so. Instead you got defensive about it and whined like a girl. I called you on it. Over. And over.

Say what you want about "rep" Manny. Funny how I have more than you even though I've been banned most of the time it has been on here.

(I hardly care about it obviously, but I think that's the 3rd time in a row you've brought it up.)

Dude - we have been through this how many times? I did not remember that thread because it was SEVEN FREAKING years ago! As I also mentioned, your history of posting here is such that you have been well-known to "troll" threads, especially music threads that I started. I mean you have added no value to this thread. All of your posts have been directed to me and for the most part included personal cheap shots. How about actually answering who you thought was better?

There are some mysteries that cannot be explained, that's for sure. Why does Da Dakota have more rep than durvasa?

I am baffled that the poll is so lopsided...I love both bands but take The Who over Zep for many of the reasons other posters have already said.

However, I could just as easily pick Led Zep--forget a matchup with Grand Funk Railroad, this poll looks more like Led Zepplin VS The Utah Jazz

First, what Led Zeppelin songs reflect jazz music? The next time I hear a jazz-influenced song from Zep would be the first. Second, the actual pioneers of electronic music were Stevie Wonder and- you guessed it- The Who. Go look it up- the synthesizers used in Wonder's Talking Book and The Who's Who's Next were among the first ever used in rock/soul music. I'll give you the metal and acoustic- Zeppelin also had a few country songs, as well as a heavy diet of blues and some that represented classical.

The Who? You want classical? Tommy. You want punk? My Generation. You want acoustic? I'm The One, Blue-Red-and-Grey, numerous others. You want pop? Who Are You, You Better You Bet. You want the blues? Young Man Blues. You want metal? Won't Get Fooled Again. You want epic songs? Love Reign Oer Me. You want country? Squeeze Box. You want jazz? The Music Must Change. You want Big Band? Postcard. Oh, The Who's music is diverse, unless all you've listened to is their songs that get played on the radio. If you listen to Tommy, Quadrophenia, The Who By Numbers, and Who Are You, you'll get diversity in spades.

And also because you have 3 singers in The Who- that in itself makes their sound incredibly different from song to song.

Oh, yeah? What business is it of yours what they argue about? Why don't you mind your own bizness????

(OK, that was a lame attempt to start 2 urination contests in the same thread. My apologies, VDP).

Not to me- you can't compete against the Big 3- Beatles, Zep, and Floyd. Very hard to do.

Lol, damn man: Hats Off to Roy Harper, Bron-y-aur Stomp, The Lemon Song, and South Bound Suarez are some of my favorite Zeppelin songs.

And fwiw, the Beatles have never been amongst my top-of-the-top favorites, so I'm not without my own deviations from the "norms." And I do love the Beatles. But there are several other bands I'd rather listen to.

The bridge is Over The Hills and Far Away, far away from The Ocean, more Down By The Seaside, to the left of the Stairway to Heaven, and in front of the Houses of the Holy within Kashmir. On the bridge, you can find a Black Dog, Moby Dick, Four Sticks, a Custard Pie, a Rover, and a Hot Dog. The bridge comes in handy When The Levee Breaks, because if you're down there, you might suffer from a Communication Breakdown, become Dazed and Confused, and get Trampled Under Foot.
