I know saying this is probably sacrilege, but I think Stairway is overrated... I've given it many chances but I feel bored every time I listen to it.
You guys forgot about "Ten Years Gone" There is just something awesome about that song... Ten Years Gone No Quarter Achilles Last Stand Stairway to Heaven Kashmir In The Evening When The Levee Breaks Ramble On Dancing Days Fool In the Rain

kangfirmed: http://www.nme.com/news/led-zeppelin/30908 Led Zeppelin are definitely reforming says Robert Plant 'We got a band meeting this afternoon' admits singer 05.Sep.07 12:16pm Led Zeppelin frontman Robert Plant has confirmed that the legendary rock band will be reuniting later this year. A reunion has been strongly rumoured for the last week or so and today (September 5) the singer confirmed it's definitely on. A fan who met Plant in London today contacted NME.COM explaining that the singer said he was on his way to meet bandmates Jimmy Page and John Paul Jones. "How did you find out about this?" asked Plant when asked about the prospects of a reunion show by the autograph hunter. "Well we've got a band meeting about it this afternoon about it. There's not a lot to work out as it's only going to be one-off gig." NME.COM has also learned from a music industry source that the show, possibly to take place in November at the 02 in London, will be a charity gig organised by promoter Harvey Goldsmith.
one of the greatest guitar solos http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uStyRqQAIW0 the beginning and "boring" part of the song is only a set up for the orgazmic end to it.
Heartbreaker / Living Loving Maid (I count it as one song) Whole Lotta Love .... Yeah I can't really pick a top 10 by them. They're my favorite band, and it's too hard to make this list. I know those two songs would make the cut, though.
It's true, Led Zep as well as the The Stones, Clapton and all former Bluesbreakers, were infatuated with black blues artists from the US that were not being played on popular American radio at the time. When the Englishmen electified the blues and sent it back to America it just blew up. But the relationship was symbiotic. The young white players got plugged in to an level of emotion they could never live and the the black artist got raised to a level of popularity they would heve never acheived. Two ways to to look at it in the Led Zepplin context: 1 . The Blues Roots of Led Zepplin - the original blues songs borrowed by Zep http://www.amazon.com/Blues-Roots-Led-Zeppelin/dp/B00004Y333 2. Whole Lotta Blues - A blues tribute to Led Zepplin - a reinterptretation of Zep by blues artist, including a killer version of one of my top Zep Songs, Hey Hey What Can I do (the famous B side) by Chris Thomas King. http://www.amazon.com/Whole-Lotta-Blues-Songs-Zeppelin/dp/B00000K1KS And don't miss Sonny Boy Williamson's version of the Willie Dixon Classic:
immigrant song good times, bad times over the hills and far away when the leevie breaks thats the way whole lotta love bring it on home rock and roll the ocean the rain song (probably my favorite zep song - i soil myself w/ glee whenever bonham finally comes in!)
I have all the studio albums and I feel that "Presence" and "In Through the Out Door" never get any love. It's hard for me to do 10 - I'll just list my favorites: "Tea For One" (probably my all-time favorite song by them) "Nobody's Fault But Mine" "For Your Life" "Achilles Last Stand" "In the Evening" "Carouselambra" "Whole Lotta Love" "No Quarter" "The Ocean" "Hey Hey What Can I Do" "Communication Breakdown" "Heartbreaker" "Black Dog" "Stairway to Heaven" "Since I've Been Loving You" "In My Time of Dying" "Kashmir" "In the Light" "Bron-Yr-Aur" "Ten Years Gone" "Wearing and Tearing" Well, it's not 10, LOL but I love all of those songs very much.
When my wife and I were married we played Over the Hills and Far Away for our wedding march in the church. Only problem was it was done on this huge church organ, they wouldn't let us play it on our stereo. Hendrix>Page But I love Zeppelin
These are all great lists, but there is just no possible way I can make a top ten, as there are just too many and the ten I list today could be completely different from the ten I would list tomorrow. But just for ****s and giggles, this week I've been liking the following: Hey, Hey What Can I Do Good Times, Bad Times Traveling Riverside Blues Misty Mountain Hop Gallows Pole THE CRUNGE Ok, for all you hardcore Zep fans, listen (I mean REALLY LISTEN) to the track on Houses of the Holy called "The Crunge". Try to figure out the time signature, it's outta control. JPJ comes in with this SICK synth part. I can't get over this groove. "Has anyone seen the bridge?!?!" Also, as mentioned above, if you want to experience some live Zep, listen to the entire "How the West was Won" set.
Ok, I have tallied up all of the songs mentioned in this thread and summed up how many times they were mentioned. So, I've come up with a top 10 list of songs so far based on how many times they were mentioned here: Rank. Name of Song, # of "votes" 10. 4 songs tied with 4 votes each tie 5. Good Times, Bad Times, 5 votes tie 5. Whole Lotta Love, 5 votes tie 5. Black Dog, 5 votes tie 5. Gallows Pole, 5 votes tie 5. Bron-Y-Aur Stomp, 5 votes 4. Heartbreaker, 6 votes tie 2. Stairway to Heaven, 8 votes tie 2. The Ocean, 8 votes 1. When the Levee Breaks, 10 votes
