Easily two of the best players in the nba today and are fairly young. Durant just 23 I believe. They'll both be around for years to come. The battle between these two have just started. Any similar to the Magic vs Bird rivalry? Thoughts..
Well they would have to meet in the Finals at least a few times before it can be called a rivalry. But it definitely has the potential. Both play small forward so they really can't avoid guarding each other.
I see the comparison, but you got to remember Magic and Bird had there begininngs traced back in college. They were in direct competition for pretty much there entire basketball lives. Also you had the differences which played into it with black v white, inner city v country and flash v effeciency not to mention Boston v LA.
it may not get as physical and heated between the two either. Both have somewhat of level heads and usually never get into any altercations.
but in terms of actual play and basketball.. there is a case for this being made as one of the better rivalries since Magic and Bird. If they can both keep making it to the Finals. If only Mcgrady and Kobe could have made that happen
Magic and Bird are both in the top 5 of all time. Plz folks lets not get carried away. It is a great matchup for 2012 but do not compare it to arguably the greatest rivalry in the history of sports.
LeBron and KD may end up finishing very close to Magic and Bird by the time it's all said and done. The comparison is not as farfetched as it seems. Can't wait!
yeah man i agree with you about how good magic and bird were. but these two guys are right there. and durant what he has done stat wise and playoff wise at the age of 23 wow.
Cant say Lebron and Durant dont have the potential to go down in the top 10 or 15 of all time. Magic and Bird weren't always the best ever they had to start somewhere.
It's quite possible. This Thunder team can dominate the West for years to come if they stay togher and healthy. The Heat will be one of the top teams in the East as long as they have Lebron.
That's because their role players are old. Someone like Juwan Howard really skews the data. Lebron is 27 and in his prime and at the peak of his game. Bosh is in his prime as well at 28. Wade is probably toward the end of his prime at 30 but he should still have a few good years left. They need to get younger and more athletic role players instead of their old veterans but it's easier to do that than get a core togher.
Dude, just stfu. You're stuck in the 80s. Its 2010 foo. let them compare whoever the hell they want and stop talking like you got bird's stick up your azz
