This.... Plus even in olympics we saw him make some great athletic plays bc he is the most athletic ball player in the world, but when it came to just creating and doing what he wanted, he wasn't as effective. The ball went to Carmelo and Kobe for that, the guys who are offensively most skilled
some of you guys jump the ship and label someone a douche, when really they are just being confident..there's nothing wrong with that.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g_mdDBjpNME LeBron can easily beat a double team when he's allowed to do 5 steps layup. Like what he did when the game was on the line in playoff.
He is right. Even when he got to the finals with the cavs and they got swepped, it was the combination of bruce bowen + tim duncan waiting behind that stopped him. But what can u expect, bb is a 5 player game and you have to take advantage of teammates.
I think this could have gone into one of the dozens of existing Lerbon / Heat threads, but I don't have much trouble with his comments as a statement. That statement is even true of Monta Ellis and Steph Curry on the Warriors. If it was just a one-on-one game, they could always get a good shot off, probably even better than Lebron. Why Lebron feels the need to say that is another question. Don't see what it gains him in the Psy-Ops department. Or the PR department. But it's a fair statement anyway.
The Matrix strongly disagrees: LeBron, didn't you mean that you cannot guard ME one on one? Just look at the numbers. After two games, LeBron is 22.0/8.5 on 54.8% FG%, while the Matrix is 18.0/9.0 on 57.7% FG%.
If different era's were not an issue..... Lebron, let me introduce you to Mr. Hakeem Olajuwon. For those that think Lebron can just blow past him, just ask the Kevin Johnson's and Shawn Kemp's of the NBA how that worked out for them... And, let's not talk about what Hakeem would have done on the offensive end of that one-on-one game....
Nothing wrong with being confident, but saying statements like that just doesn't seem necessary. It comes off arrogant and might only provide more fodder for the other team. It's bulletin board material. You can believe it without announcing it to the whole world.
It's the exact same thing shaq used to say in his prime. The fact is it doesn't matter what you can do 1-on-1.
You think LeBron doesn't understand that? LeBron is also the best passing small forward in history in terms of APG, besting Larry Bird. Oh, and he completely shut down Derrick Rose one-on-one to boot.
kobe has fallen off, but about 2 seasons ago or just last season he could single handedly beat you and was much tougher to guard when he was simply because he has a lethal jumper. Lebron has hit a stride on his jumper right now but I'm not sold. And Kobe is a much better post player.
yeah, but if youre a bad muthaf****, you want other people to know that you are a bad muthaf****. I see nothing wrong with this. Im sure he knows he might motivate the opponent, but he believes that hes enough of a bad muthaf**** that no one is going to stop him or his team.
There is a difference between confidence and cockiness. Dirk is a prime example. I remember years ago some guy played good defense on him and afterwards he said yea he did a good defensive job and made it tough on me, the tnt announcers went crazy saying oh man I would never admit that, you gotta be confidencent thsi and that, sounded awfully similar to you. I think dirk went out and dropped 40 something the next night. He would say the same thing, stay humble and quiet. I think cockiness is an insecurity, and confidence is something inside. You know dirk is confident, he dominates the game and just lets his game speak for him. He doesn't need to tell the media he is a bad 'motha*' because his jumpshot hitting the bottom of the net while the defense looks puzzled pretty much does that in a way that words couldn't. Cockiness is something perfeceived from the outside, something you want people to see about you, it shows insecurity bc you want that attention, you rworried about people's perceptions, so on. So rather than dancing around the court or flexing your muscles or acting like you won a championship, elt your game do your talking. I do understand the emotional outburst after a momentum play where you just get taken over, but thigns like lebron...please
