Well you know better however I don't think the average american will side with Lebron on this one. i mean the guy is outright saying that he has sold his soul for money.
People out here really think it's easy for Athletes to speak on stuff like this. Not everyone can be Muhammad Ali. Everyone isn't ready to lose everything. I really don't hold it against any of these players if they don't want to speak out on stuff like this.
For me this whole controversy is just a great case study about how intertwined US and Chinese businesses are today. But that's a whole other topic for another board. LeBron can stfu, he cares about money above all. China is a major market for his shoes/products, that's what this is about. There was no indication Morey wasn't educated on this issue yet tweeted about it. He also referenced friends who live in Hong Kong. The only thing Morey wasn't educated on was where the line is between free speech and corporate capitalism. Now he knows.
Lebron didn't just keep his mouth shut. He DID speak up and he straight up attacked freedom of speech and supported the CCP.
Yah, yah, yah ISIS and the Taliban are good people too, let’s concentrate on basketball “Their money drives much of their opinions.”
Except LeFraud is very vocal and now the public knows his true colours and how much of it was a carefully crafted marketing image.
"Yes we do have freedom of speech but at times there are ramifications for the negative that can happen when you are not thinking about others and only thinking about yourself." Translation: Yes, we have freedom of speech, but when millions are at stake, you should shut your mouth. Absolutely disgusting
LeBron is a primadonna and I generally don't like him as a player, but off the court he's a stand up guy that has used his platform to help a lot of people. That being said, this is an idiotic take by him and he deserves all the backlash he's about to get. "More than just a athlete"...except when it affects my paycheck. Gtfo out of here
They would have cared. I think he should have said No comment and let everyone extrapolate what he meant by not answering the question. Lebron likes to think of himself as a global brand but he is still a guy from Ohio. He is ill equipped to deal with something this huge.
You don’t have to trick off everyone else’s money to have morals. If you feel that strongly about it then limit the damage to yourself. I’m not mad at Morey but I understand why everyone that’s losing $$ cuz of him is.
