I now think jopat is basing his statements on his NBA 2k experience. When you get an open lane with LeBron in the game you have to take the shot, because the dunk animation will start and he'll make the shot or draw the foul every time. Passing to an open shooter is bad because the corner 3 animation is not automatic, resulting in only a 45% success.

Just because the corner 3 is one of the most efficient shots in basketball does not mean that its always guaranted to be the most efficient play! Most of these responses are the worst responses in the history of Clutchfans. What's wrong with you guys?

The problem is you are also saying that when you have Lebron on your team....then getting shooters open shots is a bad play.

Well based on the title of your thread, you must be alluding to the OPEN teammates at the corners and if your teammates happen to be wide open and also pretty good at that the 3-point shot, then you should pass it to them for that open shot.

Well, maybe I should. And maybe you should. But Lebron shouldn't.

I mean, is it LeBron's fault that his teammates like to line up on the corners for open shots? Making a pass to your open teammates for an open shot when you are being guarded by 2 or 3 players is NOT a bad basketball play. That would be the smart thing to do.

People hate Kobe for not passing.
    People hate LeBron for passing.
People hate Melo for shooting too many jumpers.
People hate Blake for attempting too many dunks.

    This is ****ing stupid.

No, it's probably the stupidest thing Lebron can do. It's not his fault that his mates spread the floor. It is his fault and his coach's fault that he passes out.

Just out of curiosity jopatmc, if you were LeBron James, what would you do when you cut to the basket and you have 3 guys on your tail and you have teammates standing wide open at the corners?

Take it to the rack and finish man!

Lebron should be doing this so often that the opponent has to try to deny him receiving the ball. Or he bludgeons them into submission. He can't be stopped in there. He shoots like 70% down there. He can elevate over everybody. And he's got all the nifty moves to avoid offensive fouls. And when he goes to the rack, he simply collects so much foul count it's insane.

And that is the most efficient play in basketball. Lebron going to the rim to finish is far more efficient than him throwing it out for a corner 3. That actually lets the defense off the hook. And gives all the defenders an out.

You have to understand what foul count does to a team's efficiency. He can then go sit on the bench and the backups can clean up because they are in the bonus.

He should never pass out when he is in the paint. If he had done this throughout his career he would probably have at least two or three rings by now, including last season.

And that is why Lebron passing out when he is in the paint is the stupidest play in the NBA. Because it has cost him so much in his career.

    I'm done here.

Yeah attacking the rim every single play is not going to work against smarter defensive teams. This isn't NBA 2K12.

Not only that you are alienating your teammates.

You speak as if LeBron James has a wide open lane every single time he cuts to the basket, which is more often than NOT the case. If LeBron James had a clear, and emphasis on the CLEAR path to the basket then I'm all for LeBron finishing the play, but I'm almost 100% sure LeBron James knows to do just that. However, when you have 3 guys guarding you, the chances of finishing a play are greatly diminished and you are better served passing it to an open teammate for the shot.

    Exactly.
Its stupid how passing is considered a weakness now... look at Kobe. That dumbass went like 3-21 several times during the season because he wouldn't pass the ball.

And then Jomaptc is telling us that LeBron who went like 8-13 is an idiot because he's passing the ball when he's getting triple teamed.

    GREAT LOGIC BUD.
