I never said LeBron and Wade teaming up was a good thing from a rivalry standpoint. I liked watching LeBron and Wade go at it as much as anyone.

    From your own thread:

Its kind of a smart move on LeBrons part. If Paul comes to the East and plays for Orlando. It would be tougher for the Heat to reach the finals. But if Paul stays west and comes to Portland, Dallas, or Houston it would make both Paul and LeBron successful in that they both reach a NBA finals and from there anything could happen.

Most of the best rivalries in sports are between teams that face eachother a lot, and that means they will play in the same division or conference (typically). Lakers vs. Celtics is one of the exceptions, because they happened to play against eachother in the Finals a lot, and there's history there.

So LeBron telling CP3 to stay in the West because it will make it more of a rivalry make little sense. Moreover, he ruined one of the best rivalries in basketball between him and Wade by teaming up in Miami, so he really shouldn't be bringing that up.

Lebron vs Wade wasnt really that type of rivalry, it reminds me of high school when two buddies who hang out but go to different schools play against each other. Its not really that type of intense competition its really like a fun showcase to see whos better.

    <object width="640" height="385"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/Bmyw6fPV910&amp;hl=en_US&amp;fs=1"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/Bmyw6fPV910&amp;hl=en_US&amp;fs=1" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="640" height="385"></embed></object>

This is hardly intense, they are smiling at each other and patting each other on the back.

It was still fun to watch. Two of the best at their positions, and they would guard eachother in key moments of the game. Plus they were in the same conference, which meant we'd see them playing eachother a number of times during the season. It will be interesting to see LeBron and Wade play with eachother on the same team. But best case scenario would have been for LeBron to stay in Cleveland and for the Heat to become relevant again with Wade and without needing LeBron. I always hoped for a LeBron vs Wade series in the playoffs, but we'll never see it.

I can't believe all you guys that invest enough emotion in this ridiculousness to actually "hate" LeBron because of this stuff. I'm loving this insanity, even the the clusterf--k that was "The Decision". It has all made this NBA offseason 1000x more interesting/bearable, and should make for one hell of a season coming up. Ratings should be through the roof. Unless the "King" does something to screw over the Rockets, I'm just enjoying the ride.

dude they were going at each other. that was competition. wade trying to block lebron's dunk, bron knows it and dunked hard. that's tough competition right there.

wassup with fans nowadays? can't smile during a basketball game? ridiculous.

Come on man, u and i both know that was not intense, Its competition yes, when you play 21 with your buddies thats competition as well, but this was not an intense rivalry that lebron had with wade. Futhermore if it was that intense and they wanted to beat each other that bad they wouldnt have ever joined forces.

With that being said I personally think that Lebron will develop a mean streak this year, I have a feeling that before they can play around with the skits and stuff because after 2007 lebron realized that his championship aspirations were that of a child dreaming of what can happen one day. However now with Dwade and to a lesser extent chris bosh they will become a wrecking crew and will be favorites to win the next 6, possibly in a row. I think everyone will see the change in Lebron this year. Its gonna be all business until that first champion is secured, then the heat are gonna turn into an extremely arrogant team until possibly Kevin Durant and the Thunder can beat them, which will probably be in 2015.

Thus concludes the Ms Cleo rant lol

Forreal... who the hell is he? Hes just another NBA PLAYER, not a gm or president or the commissioner, and even those ppl dont dictate completely the shape of the league, and thats what hes trying to do, single handedly. Ive lost so much respect for him... he keeps saying he loves the game of basketball, but he just loves the business part of it, offseason, etc.. just so that he doesnt have to be competitive during the reg season, and hes not competitive at all.

Now, as a fan, its gonna be fun to watch the heat and maybe whoever else paul and melo etc go to, but its not gonna be the same knowing all these guys are part of the united WUSS alliance headed by lebron dictating where everybody goes just in order to have easier matchups when he plays teams. And knowing that its all planned out.

Man, just be like kobe (im not a kobe fan at all).. watch tape, practice, help YOUR team, dont worry bout the rest.. be a PLAYER. Dont use your skill the wrong way and dont try to make this game more of a business than it already is.

I actually think Paul going to the Magic would be a better rivarly, because they would play 4 times a year, potential playoff matches for years, and be just as good as the Heat IMO, whereas they would only play twice a year if he stays in the West.

We love superstars in this league because we enjoy how they can singlehandedly tilt the parity of the league. Parity is good from the viewpoint of someone who loves the game, and superstars historically have represented the culmination of these ideals. It's natural to equate a superstar to a hero, or someone who faces the elements, overcomes adversity, and succeeds. Not someone who runs away from adversity by ducking under the shadow of another superstar. Don't forget the Spiderman quote, with great power comes great responsibility. Magic was drafted by the Lakers, he didn't jump on their bandwagon right as he was about to enter his prime. I just can't respect the guy based on his ability and corresponding lack of respect for the game.

Kobe? You can love or hate him, but you'll still find yourself respecting him at the end of the day.

It's much more than a rivalry issue. In real life, especially over the course of this summer, what do you notice about the people who claim to be LeBron fans? Who go around spewing the "haters gon hate" crap because they can't justify what someone of his magnitude did? We need to alienate these people and purge them.

Its not that we hate Lebron. It's more he's been kinda forced upon us to be the face of the NBA by the media. He's also a serious attention w****. He's more worried about building his "brand" than winning. Hate or love Kobe, but he's more low key. Lebron has been about the attention and protecting his image since his rookie year. He's more concerned about being a billionaire than winning a ring

Lol. Neither Heat nor Thunder are winning any championships.

The Heat will implode long before any of the max contracts expire. Disappointment will lead to finger pointing, and eventually 1 or 2 of them will be traded. Or someone else will bang Lebron's mom.

Thunder are extremely overrated. There's always 1 or 2 low bracket teams who overachieve with a few good games in the playoffs, then the next year everyone assumes that team will start their climb towards the championship. Happens every year. A few years ago, everyone thought it was the Hornets. Then the Hawks.

I see what your saying but given what we have seen can you really doubt Kevin Durant and Russell Westbrook? Just because they are young doesnt mean that they are a serious problem in the west.

I definitely agree that they have good players. And an awesome coach. But they aren't contenders.

Not only that, but their front office has to prove itself as well. So far they have sucked for a long time and got some draft picks. But is management smart enough to continue building a championship team while keeping core talent?

And what happens when key players inevitably get injured? Are they really deep enough?

Nothing against the Thunder. I'm not a hater. I had lots of fun watching them in the playoffs too. But there's just so many things that have to happen just right in order to be a real contender. It's too easy to jump to conclusions after a few good games. I never buy into hype, I look for consistency before jumping on a team's bandwagon.

And, eventually, those young players they have will deserve a raise, so your right, it will be hard to keep their core intact.
