I will admit that Jay-Z is ranked higher than Lebron on the "Forbes Celebrity 100" this year, but the people in this thread need to stop sipping the Jay-Z kool aid. Jay-Z's net worth is listed by Forbes as $150 million. I can't find a reliable estimate of LeBron's net worth. http://www.forbes.com/2009/05/06/ri...onaires-richest-black-americans_slide_18.html I was speaking in hyperbole when I said that Jay-Z was barely LeBron's equal, but my original point still stands. I'd like to see an example/some evidence of Jay-Z opening new doors to LeBron. What does Jay-Z have access to that LeBron couldn't get at the drop of a hat? The article cites as an example of the world that Jay-Z opens up to LeBron. WOW. A STEAK DINNER!!!!!!! EGGS FOR BREAKFAST!!!!!!!!!! THEY WENT TO A NIGHTCLUB WHERE BEYONCE'S MEGA STAR SISTER WAS DEEJAYING!!! Oh, wait, the career of Beyonce's sister has been nothing short of a total and utter flop. There's no doubt that she wouldn't even bee deejaying for LeBron if her sister wasn't banging Jay-Z.
The 'F' I got on my paper says Wikipedia's not a real source. Even if that's true it's significantly more money that LeBron has.
I don't think LeBron has a hard time getting a table. I mean Jay Z took him to the Spotted Pig -hell you and I can walk into the Spotted Pig and have lunch today if we wanted, don't even need a reservation. We woudl have to wait longer and wouldn't sit in the private room in the back that Jay Z uses, but it's the same stuff. There's no magic dionysus room that only celebs know exist.
What does Beyonce's sister have to do with Jay-Z? She isn't even on his record label, nor does he have anything to do with her music career in any way. To say that a successful entrepreneur like Jay-Z isn't Lebron's equal is ridiculous.
I was saying the only reason they went to the club where she was deejaying was because she's Beyonce's sister. Would Jay-Z take LeBron to a club to see Solange Knowles if she wasn't related to Beyonce? I doubt it. Furthermore, I was using this as an example of the supposedly elite lifestyle that Jay-Z opens up for Lebron. Going to a club with Solange deejaying is not some wonderful world. hy·per·bo·le /haɪˈpɜrbəli/ Show Spelled[hahy-pur-buh-lee] Show IPA –nounRhetoric. 1. obvious and intentional exaggeration. 2. an extravagant statement or figure of speech not intended to be taken literally, as “to wait an eternity.”
Are you saying they only went to that club because Solange was deejayin? LOL. Jay-Z wasn't taking him to see Beyonce's sister DJ a party. Ok, you were exaggerating in your original post, we all could easily see that . So he is equal? Semi-equal? What is the point you're trying to make? Who's even saying that Jay-Z will give Lebron a certain lifestyle that he can't have on his own? Where did that come from? All I see is a couple friends hanging out and hitting up a night club. They've been friends for a while and its not the first time they partied with each other.
Fair points. I was just alluding to the fact that Jay Z probably has inside access to things that even LeBron does not. Not just the Spotted Pig or whatever it is, but the parties and the people that Jay Z knows and hangs out with. While it is true that you and I could probably stroll into the establishments listed in the article, we wouldn't be treated the same way. No first rate service and no schmoozing with the high powered crowd. Maybe LeBron could get all of it himself eventually, but with Jay Z it comes at once. I'm sure it all could play a factor in wooing LeBron. Cleveland doesn't exactly scream exciting. In NYC he'll have the keys to the playground with Jay Z.
My point in my post was that Lebron will be busy playing basketball. He can do whatever he wants, wherever he wants in the offseason, and doesn't need anyone's help to use his status and wealth.
