You could say that about this whole generation then. Basically any perimeter player from Kobe (just entering his prime when they changed the rules) to the present has benefited greatly from the new rules.
You seem to be missing my point entirely. Lebron and T-Mac are two guys raised by single parents who apparently haven't "grown up" yet. Ok. But guess what? There are a boatload of people who had mothers and fathers around and are going through the same thing. What's the reason there? I'm just sick of you deciding that you know everything about every subject under the sun, including exactly why people you don't know turned out the way they did.
What the hell are you talking about? How is that even remotely related to what I said? I ask a guy to stop insulting people who are raised by single mothers by saying that makes them more likely to be immature pansies, and you interpret that as my way of saying we shouldn't criticize wife beaters and drug dealers?
This guy just took Wojo's articles and then turned them into pithy one-liners. I can't believe he gets paid for trash like that.
Not at all, you are trying to make it much bigger than the topic we are discussing, and I am not interesting in expanding into that conversation, if you wish to discuss whether fathers are necessary etc, then by all means open up a thread about that. What? I don't think or believe that...not sure where you get that idea... DD
Taking shots at some of the hardest working a dedicated people (single parents) in the country? Stay classy, DD.
It doesn't change the fact that Kobe has benefited from the rule changes. They made his prime easier on him and likely will extend his superstar years past where they might have ended otherwise. Further, I would argue (this is hardly a new idea) that Lebron is the one perimeter player of the last half dozen years that has actually benefited the least from the rule changes. Because of his size, it wouldn't really be that much easier for typical wing players to handle Lebron even if they were allowed to hand check and eliminating the hand check has removed what could have been an enormous advantage for Lebron on the defensive end against smaller players. Also, Lebron is one of the best players at finishing near the rim with contact, so he doesn't NEED to be bailed out the way a lot of physically weaker perimeter players do.
I think they would really have to consider it. In the end they might not do it just because of what Kobe has meant to the franchise and the backlash it would cause, but Lebron gives you more on the court and is considerably younger. He will likely still be one of the top players in the league after Kobe is gone.
LA would gladly trade a 32yo with very high mileage, for a 26yo with a potentially poor attitude. But they wouldn't expect Erik Spoelstra to tame him. Lebron's asshattery is temporarily masking the real possibility that Spoelstra is in over his head.
He was successful and won championships before rule changes, he would've won championships and been as successful even if they didn't change the rules
I agree about LeBron pampered by his mother, the media, and folks that are trying to make money off of him. No one has taught this guy how to be humble and grounded which a lot of fathers do teach their children. I don't think DD was talking about all men that were raised by their mother only. I know a lot of guys that were raised by their mothers that became pretty good people. Hell, I have a few friends that didn't have any parents in their lives.
100% spot on. Folks just trying to paint baby into a corner. No one puts BABY in a corner !!! Well, except for Clutch, obviously.... Spot on, and what would a BBS be if everyone stopped posting? DD
You have as much proof that Kobe would have won championships anyway as I have that Lebron would have still become the best player in the league and a two-time MVP without the rule changes. None.
