Both the Clippers and Rockets should be wary of spending $60M on 3 players. With the season so long and injuries always a possibility, neither team can afford to deplete depth so they can brag that they have a "Big 3". Now, if the Clippers can somehow convince Lebron to sign for the mid-level exception and reep benefits of playing in market worthy of a $2B price tag for a team traditionally synonymous with futility. If he does see that he can make a ton of extra cash via outside of basketball investments, then maybe he will be winning to play for Clippers on a midlevel exception contract. This should be the only reason the Clippers add him without trading either Blake or CP3. The Rockets should only try and get him if they move Harden or Howard's contract either in a trade with Miami or with another team for multiple pieces. This would allow the Rockets to actually build a decent team around Lebron. What Lebron should do is sign with the Lakers if he wants to save his legacy and image. If he goes to the Clippers or Rockets, he is only going to look worse as a mercenary moving team to team forming super-teams and undermining the NBA. As a member of the Lakers, assuming he can handle the microscope that is the LA Lakers media circus, he can add a brand name to his brand. Plus, a lot of the Lebron haters would go away since the majority of NBA fans are Laker fans. There are a lot of Laker haters as well, but that will shield Lebron as opposed to people singling him out for hate.
If LeBron does leave then I hope he picks H-Town. With that being said Cleveland fans deserve credit for this awesome video. <iframe width="560" height="315" src="//www.youtube.com/embed/Jj-FBSALn2A" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>
How is this a troll job? I'm not a fan of the 3 max contract strategy as the Spurs pretty much exposed it. The Heat had nothing outside of their three max players and the Spurs depth exposed it. I'm just saying the Rockets and Clippers shouldn't fall into the same trap. Lebron is better than anyone on the Rockets or Clippers so they should both try for him, but they should also move one of their existing max contracts to allow some cap space to build a decent team around.
LAC would have to give up Blake to get LeBron? Houston instantly becomes the top choice then, just on paper. CP3/LeBron vs Harden/Howard/LeBron If LAC indeed needs to shed Blake, the only way LeBron even thinks about going to LAC is if Rivers has the greatest coaching pitch ever.
The Clippers could trade Deandre, Jamal Crawford, and Jared Dudley to clear room to have CP3/Blake/Lebron. But that would leave nothing left to fill the roster. It's not a video game with fatigue turned off. This whole "Big 3" concept is not a good strategy after the new CBA rules were put in place. The Heat did it before negotiations and was one of the main things that NBA was trying to prevent going forward.
I'm not greedy. I'll take 2 championships in the next 4 years and will take the "lumps" that comes from failing the other 2 years.
LBJ LBJ 2 H-Town would give Houston higher odds to win year in year out. The Western Conference is loaded with talent. If LeBron James wants to play against better players then Houston would be the place to be.
Yep. Miami's b****ing- but honestly if having three stars even gets us one ring and then a decade of mediocrity/rebuilding- I'll take it.
The Heat didn't have the balance...No interior game...big difference. Yes, depth is important, and young guys/vets slightly past their prime wanting a ring willing to take a lot less will work to fill it out...But having an inside game/talented bigs creates the balance/matchup nightmares. BTW...love your handle...Land of the Lost, chaka, the slestak, the crystals....just awesome.
You realize that would clear up only $6m to sign Lebron with, right? Clippers have to convince Miami to do a sign and trade. It's the only way to get Lebron.
If Lebron forces a trade to play with his CP3 BFF, ESPN says it's legit: http://espn.go.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=koxog6o
