    (need a link ?)

It seems pretty much that 80% of whats quoted by the media now is out of its original context

    Manufactured drama.

I saw another site that just put Jordan's comment out there in absolute definite term "To me 5 rings is better than 1" making it like it was Jordan the trashtalker saying it.

I watched Jordan's comment when asked if he'd take Lebron or Kobe, and he was actually unsure, had to take a long pause to think on it. Then he jokingly answered "Kevin Durant!". (Though Jordan knows its Lebron's time, can't concede it to Lebron yet. And why should he if he and Kobe are measured by rings).

I watched Lebron's response to that, and he didnt exactly "FIRE" back harshly, though he did answer back assertively thoughtful while explaining his perspective on the opinion. The part Lebron disagreed with (which a lot of people disagree on) is if using "rings" is THE criteria in judging a player.

Both sides made a good case, in my opinion. I can commend Lebron for standing up for himself against the legend. And I commend Jordan for not being too much a dick about it too.

I am sure he has started to develop/use his post moves for a reason. I wouldn't put it past him that he will dominate the post.

In the biggest stretch of his career, starting when he was down 3-2 to Boston last year through the end of the Finals, Lebron played better than Kobe has ever played in any important stretch in his career. Let's not forget that many of Kobe's big Finals moments have been pretty bad, and that he's been bailed out by teammates a number of times (6-24, anyone?).

A funny thing happens when you eat right and work out with professional trainers, as well as having your 18 year old body fill out... you get bigger! Who knew?!

Things are taken out of context. But MJ's are right that both Kobe and Lebron are far behind Jordan. Seriously though, the minute Lebron teaming with the #2 player(at least at that time) of the league along with another player Morey considered as franchise player(bosh), he's not in the league of all time greats.

And if he had stayed in Cleveland and lost in the Finals again he would have been accused of being a "chocker."

I think its important to remember a different era of basketball, honestly going over footage if MJ was playing today he would be averaging atleast 35 a game efficiently.

Okay, say I read into Mike's comments.

    1. Mike knows that, in many people's views, Lebron has reached his level of dominance.
    2. Mike is petty when it comes to his foothold on G.O.A.T.

Could the 5 beats 1 comment be a subtler way of re-affirming his OWN place as G.O.A.T since it might be less likely that Lebron can get 5 more titles.

In another words, as long as Mike has more rings than Lebron, Lebron (no matter what he does) will reach Mike status.

Robert Horry vs. Michael Jordan? Last time I checked, 7 is better than 6.

Jordan didn't have to leave the Bulls to do that. He already played beside Pippen, who was recognized by the league at their 50th anniversary as one of the 50 greatest players of All-Time. Pippen was also in serious contention for MVP the year MJ retired to play baseball. Additionally, he had Horace Grant for the first 3 and Dennis Rodman for the last 3. An argument could be made that Rodman was better than Bosh. And Horace Grant is criminally under-rated.

MJ needs to just let his career do the talking and stop putting his foot in it by putting himself in these stupid dick-swinging contests about whether X or Y player is better.

Its simple. I hate the questions because its bias before he can even answer.

MJ was right, Lebron is the more dominant player. Kobe has a more accomplished career to a degree but those types of things he used as an example were the results of a lot of people and organizations involved.

For example, Kobe in Cleveland , he wouldn't have taken those cavs anywhere either, and matter of factly when he had a similar team he quit, cried, threw people under the bus, called the owner a liar, etc

However lebron on a bunch of stacked Lakers teams would win it also, especially with prime shaq.

Individual wise Lebron has Kobe topped from mvps to rebounds to efficiency, to being an overall better defender.

How can one guy be considered the greater when he was a second option and only ever was good enough to get one MVP which was questionable in itself

Media looks for controversy all the time, and if there is none, they will try to create one.

Everyone knows that LeBron is THE best player in the league, and it's not even close, especially for Kobe. So the question itself is r****ded, and MJ wouldn't have let it out directly anyways. But the way he tried to get around it with some obvious fun, it was still used as controversy.

Hell . .. the league is more watered down than in MJ's time
    and
MJ's time was more watered down than Magic/Bird's early career

Magic is better than all three
    and I fricking hate Magic
If not for HIV . . .. what would his numbers be???

During the Jordan era. .they began the NFLing of the rules
meaning made them PRO OFFENSE and PRO LITTLE MAN

LeBron is unstoppable to the basket because ANYTHING you do to stop him is a foul
Jordan was unstoppable can he could carry the ball from the 3 point line to the rack in 1 bounce.

Superstar calls have made the NBA more and More of fricking joke

If you the best . . . you dominate your guy
not rely on bull**** jumping into people and fling up shots to get fouls [LOOKING AT YOU D. "3-23 with 50 pts" Wade ]

Y'all and the media are putting way, way, way too much into those particular comments. Jordan was asked a question and answered off the cuff, I don't think he put much thought into it, I don't think he really cares and I don't think he's actually an authority on the subject (which is sad for a GM).

Get off his back, he answered a question as fast as he could so he could go out and party or gamble.
