Uh, its just a smokescreen. Its just like what Lebron said, all he's doing is keeping his options open. He's saying he'll consider it, but the reality is there's no chance in hell Lebron stays in Cleveland. Not unless the Cavs do a fleecejob and get some major talent for some scraps (like the Pau Gasol trade last year) anyway.

As great as the Cavs have been this year, most of it has been due to James improving and their new pg playing out of his mind. Lebron is no dummy, and knows that as good as they are playing right now, the Cavs as presently constructed will never be contenders, especially once the Blazers and the Rox get in the mix with the Celts, Spurs, Phx and the Lakers. Look for him to go to NJ and mix it up with Carter and Harris, or to New York and play with his either Wade or Bosh (who is looking more to more to be a lock for leaving the Raptors behind).

Question: How many times have you seen the Cavs play this season?

They gave Boston all they could handle in the Eastern Conference Semis. Something Detroit and LA could not even come close to doing. This year's Cavs are much, much better than a team that had a realistic shot of winning it all last season.

I don't get it: why do baseball players get to go to whatever team they want to and nobody says a bad word about them? They even talk about not sure where they're going to play next year during the season, saying things like wanting to "play on the east coast" or "smaller market". Almost all of them just sign with the highest bidder and it's understood and accepted.

And yet LeBron says that he will consider exercising his rights as a free agent and he is some greedy devil who is disrespecting the game? Can somebody explain the difference to me?

To answer your question: They don't. Just ask anyone in Houston about Carlos Beltran. You also must have missed the NY Post headlines, "Roger becomes an Asstro", and "Roger the Rat" when Clemens left New York for here. I could go on and on. Bogus issue.

A better question would be: Why is LeBron getting so much grief when other free agents of 2010 (like Wade and Bosh) are not? Because LeBron kept flapping his jaws about how much he loved New York. Simple as that. Wade and Bosh have been wiser with their words. Most people aren't criticizing the idea of LeBron leaving. The criticism is him feeding the frenzy.

As a businessman, constantly creating drama about which team he'll sign is smart.
