Barkely telling someone else to shut up, that's rich. Since when is he opposed to someone speaking their mind? Lebron needs to look out for himself, just like Cavs fans look out for themselves. He doesn't owe any loyalty to the city or the fans, it's a job ffs.
Seriously, when has Barkley ever shut up about anything. It's not like LeBron is some selfish player who only thinks about himself and it's some great detriment to the team. I guess no news would be good news for the Cavs, but ESPN will over-cover 2010 no matter what LeBron says. Tiger is the only person who shuts the hell up about everything, and guess what, he still gets talked about and criticized for not talking about anything. LeBron is the Tiger of the NBA, and even if he carries himself like Tim Duncan, there would be speculation. LeBron goes to practice, he plays hard, he plays smart, he plays as a team player, and he's a great player. He doesn't get in trouble with the law and he doesn't punch his teammates. Talking to the press is less important than any of the above. Chuckster was fat as a player, got drunk all the time, hung out and partied at the strip clubs all the time, got into car accidents after drinking at the strip clubs, spit on fans, got arrested, didn't pay his gambling debts in a timely manner and offended many players who actually took care of themselves instead of being a detriment to the team (see Clyde Drexler). And he doesn't even watch the TNT basketball games anymore. He just sits in the food room and eats. He's only there for comedy. He's an ex-NBA stud who's a comedian now. I really can't take anything a comedian says seriously.
Man. . .the LeBronie is beyond critisizism to some folx .. interesting If i were cleveland. . . I would simple start putting out that I'm going to rape NY I want three #1s and whatever they have that is worth a d*mn they can have LeBron . . but I wanna set them back 6 yrs Rocket River
Lebron should make a public statement that he ahs not spoken with anyone about his future plans, and that they only thing he is worried about is winning a championship this season.
What has LeBron said about 2010, anyways? When he's in Cleveland, he talks nice about Cleveland. When he's in New York, he talks nice about New York. But his position is the same -- he'll make a decision when the time comes. I don't think this has any impact at all on his team. It may be a distraction next season. But not this year -- the date is too far off. If anything, the threat of LeBron leaving may have forced the Cavs front office to be more proactive in making moves to improve the team.
That's the best course here? For him to lie? Why is it such a sin for players to speak openly and honestly? I never understood that. The media is allowed to hound players and ask all sorts of ridiculous questions. But if the players, who are duty-bound to engage these media members, dare to answer sincerely they get blasted for it.
This is another example of the most disrespectful generation that has ever walked on plaent earth. I am 27 but raised like I was born in 27....We didnt say those kinds of things about elders or to elders. Lebron should be going to Sir Charles for advice he was in the league a lot of years. Its sad the time we are living in today.
Chuck is right. I think James wants to have his cake and eat it too. He talks about staying in Cleveland and then talks about heading off.....and he has been called out on it. The thing I like is that, Chuck has been there, done that, and has ever right to say what ever he wants. And you know if he was still playing, the next time he played against James he'd belt him.
Well nobody cares that you dont take him seriously, he's obviouly smarter than you when it comes to basketball and that's all that matters. Id take a ****** lunatic who onced played basketball over some guy named Kim on Clutchfans on basketball info anyday
and oh, Barkley is right on the target on this one. He's getting paid millions by the Cavs. Don't you think they deserve a bit respect?
The Cavs do not own LeBron James. The only thing the Cavs deserve is his best effort as a basketball player. They're getting much more than their money's worth at the moment. Oh, and Barkley has provided ample evidence that being a great basketball player does not necessarily translate to being a great basketball mind.
Lebron needs to STFU and just play basketball like he's getting paid to do, if I were the Cavs owner I would tell Lebron to go if he wants because we only want players who actually want to be here in our organization. For the first time this year Barkley is correct on something.
Let me get this straight. You've got one of the greatest players ever playing at a ridiculously high level, and he's leading your team (which would be crap without him) to contender status. And because he's said he's open to switching teams after his contract ends, you'd tell him, "Well why don't you just leave then!" That would be the most moronic move by an NBA owner in the history of the league.
Personally yes I would do that because I would not want to pay a guy that kind of money if he is out there talking like that, I'm not a Cavs or a Lebron fan but I think it really is a slap in the fans faces and his team mates as well. It may be a dumb business move but if you get players that love the city and actually want to be there for the right reasons then in my opinion it makes up for it in the end.
A year or so ago, Battier said in Detroit that he'd love to play their someday. Did we all throw a fit about it, and blast him for disrespecting the Rockets and the city of Houston? No. Because, as good as Battier is, he isn't LeBron. We understand that it's his decision, and he can go whereever he likes when his contract is up. But because we're talking about a guy who's been carrying his team ever since he entered the league, all of a sudden he's the one being disrespectful for considering the possibility of playing for another team. One kind of nutty double standard is that? Cleveland doesn't own LeBron. Just because he was born in Ohio, that doesn't give the Cavs territorial rights to him. He's as free as any other player (e.g. Battier) to ponder openly where he might play after his contract is up.
