Apparently not as many black fans turned on him as non-black fans did:

That probably had more to do with race than anything, they're black he's black, so they'll defend him. Doesn't change the fact what he did was a douchebag move to Cleveland. Douchebaggery has nothing to do with race, if anything this is only blown out of proportion because of how much the media itself blew it out of proportion.

Hey, an egotistical d-bag that obviously craves all of the attention he can possibly get has come out and said something controversial about race... let's jump all over it and continue to give him that attention he so desperately needs!

    /sarcasm

LeBron's an idiot that doesn't know the difference between two and three (steps, that is), so anything he has to say I'll go ahead and file under "Couldn't Give Any Less of a Crap."

Yet another rather innocuous quote that gets blown up to holy hell.

    So he's now a victim?

LeBron had massive support among White fans. He acted like a tool, and now that support is drying up. This doesn't reflect poorly on Whites, but it does reflect poorly on Blacks who continue to support him only because he shares their race. If LeBron were White, would these same Black people still be "rallying" around him? Probably not, and that distinction cannot be defended or excused.

2010: The summer where every NBA fan suddenly decided that rings only count if you are the "the man" on the team that drafted you and should make every effort possible not to play with other great players lest your own greatness be questioned.

Yes it did. and it still does.

But don't tell me you think 12-13 % of the U.S. population has the power to elect a president all by themselves

People of African descent aren't even the largest "minority" in this nation lol

The whole talking in third person, declaring himself the King, wearing sunglasses inside, and overall egomaniacal behavior is also a trait shared by many hip hop artists. Just saying...

I don't think the hate is a race issue as much as the acceptance among some is. Truth be told though, if you still think Lebron is a class act or if you still support him go on with your bad self. The bottom line is WHO CARES? Why is this important? You never heard Kobe complain about people who don't like him. He doesn't seem to care and I don't know why anyone should.

Not true. I'm "black" and I'm one of the biggest LePippen detractors on the board.

I want to see how they got those numbers......those numbers are meaningless unless we know how, when, and where they were collected.

LeBron and Brett Favre are very similar in how they interact with the media, yet LeBron is one of the most disliked athletes while Favre is one of the most liked athletes. Can anyone explain that?

So much ignorance in the thread......

"Blacks" are not monolithic....please respect the fact that we are all independent people with different view points. Don't lump us together based on some mysterious 15%.

15% of what? lol how many people were surveyed?

Probably enough for the survey to be statistically valid

Oh, I guess that means it's okay to go on national television and tell your adoring hometown fans who have done nothing but worship you and and your organization who catered to your every whim that "You are taking your talents to South Beach". What a douche

It isn't about him leaving, it's about how he left (and little bit about taking the easy way out on getting a ring)

I'm sure that all 100 of them make the survey valid

    Yeah like OJ Simpson lmao.

According to Thomas's article among whites his Q positive dropped 8 points, among blacks it dropped more than it did for whites... 13 points. What that means is that more black folks dont "like" Lebron anymore because of all this than white folks dont "like" Lebron because of this. If you actually look at both the Q postive and Q negative it says more about black folks and their reactions when faced with something a black athlete did, rather than some bias in the case of white respondents.

It's natural that when the positive Q drops, the negative Q rises. What's actually unusual is that the positive dropped among black respondents but the negative remains hardline as if they didn't feel comfortable calling out or "snitching" on a famous black athlete regardless. Black respondents disagree as much as white responders to his actions and as many blacks dont like him anymore as seen by his Q positive, but they're just not willing to criticize when the guy is black as seen by his static Q negative.

Ignorance like this shows how far America still has to go in terms of race. If race matters to blacks when the person is black, how can they ask white America to stop caring about race? Please only care about race when it benefits us, and stick your head in the sand when it embarrasses us...?

Which he could have defused by having a brain and not biting the bait when the get-out-of-jail race card was dangled in front of him.

If he actually has a point about race, and how it affected things, he should articulate it. Otherwise be a man and say "no." It's irresponsible for anyone to make a soft and unsubstantiated assertion of racism. Not that I really care about his views on race but it continues to make him look weakminded and effete compared to stong guys like Jordan or principled guys like Ali

No, but he strings along the media, his fans and his teammates every year by purposely being wishy-washy about retiring, comes to training camp late on purpose, has a history of drug abuse, has thrown teammates under the bus, etc.

Blame the media if you want to blame someone/something for "The Decision". They're the ones who set it up and hyped it up. I personally don't care what an athlete does as long as it doesn't hurt anyone and I thought it was hilarious and sad that people had such negative reactions to "The Decision".
