I would just like to remind everyone that arguing with tallanvor is pointless. He already has everything figured out, and has absolutely no desire to examine his own beliefs.

Trying to control speech. Typical liberal. So scared of what the opposition might say.

How is he trying to control your speech? Seems all he is saying is that your positions are predictable and it is pointless to discuss things with you since you don't consider contrary points in consideration of our own positions.

Others question your honesty. But that doesn't infringe on your speech either.

He's telling others not to speak to me. Pretty basic attempt to control speech.

Others disagree. That's why they discuss things with me and why thadeus desperately tries to tell them to stop.

Others question Obama's honesty. Care to point to what these 'others' you are trying to speak for think is a lie?

Thadeus has no power so he can't infringe on my speech. He is doing what he can to try and control it. Ever seen me tell others not to talk to thadues or any other poster? Doubt it.

One thing I am wondering: why did they release this now? Did the Romney camp just got it or were they saving it up for an emergency such as the 47% talk leaking?

    Every tax ever involves redistribution.

The whole line of attack is laughable, and it shows the ignorance of anyone who repeats it.

No, he isn't telling people to not speak to you. He is reminding people that arguing with you is pointless. And based on this interaction, I completely understand why.

Who discusses things with you? BigTexx? Basso? Gwayneco?

Pretty clear just from this thread you either don't know the difference between speech control and someone advising folks as to pointlessness to discussing things with you. Or you are just being dishonest in your portrayal of Thadeus's post.

If you like, I could create a poll question about whether you debate honestly. I know you'd get at least two votes.

Wow... I feel like I am now talking with my youngest daughter... "daddy, Emma won't talk to me anymore!" Seriously, why is it that important to you whether Thadeus reminds people discussing things with you is pointless? Why not present cogent discussion points and see if people agree or disagree. And then continue the discussion after carefully considering the other person's points. That will get you much more respect than "Thadeus is being me at me!"

But if it makes you feel better... "Thadeus, quit staring at Tallanvor"... happy?

    for what purpose?

I'll try to feed this to you.

I don't think I have ever said anything to them. In this thread i was discussing with Haymitch and GladiatorRowdy which infuriated thadeus.

Why would I want you to do that? Why would I care?

It isn't. You are the one sounding emotional.

    I was. With Haymitch.

    Video at link.

In rest of '98 clip, Obama speaks of 'competition' and 'the marketplace'

Updated 11:29 p.m. — Mitt Romney's campaign this week has pounced on a 14-year-old clip of Obama speaking about "redistribution" in October 1998 at a conference in Chicago, in which the future president seems to extol the virtues of redistributing wealth.

Yet NBC News has obtained the entirety of the relevant remarks, which includes additional comments by Obama that weren't included in the video circulated by Republicans. That omission features additional words of praise for "competition" and the "marketplace" by the then-state senator.

In the whole clip, Obama says:

I think the trick is figuring out how do we structure government systems that pool resources and hence facilitate some redistribution because I actually believe in redistribution, at least at a certain level to make sure that everybody's got a shot. How do we pool resources at the same time as we decentralize delivery systems in ways that both foster competition, can work in the marketplace, and can foster innovation at the local level and can be tailored to particular communities.

Obama continues in a few words after that to describe the use of tax credits in setting public housing development policy in Chicago as an example before concluding.

The video circulated by Republicans, which has used as fodder for an attack on Obama, includes a longer reflection by Obama about talking about how government action can be effective. But the clip has been cut short after the word "shot;" Obama's words about competition, the marketplace and innovation are omitted from the clip.

Romney has nonetheless seized upon this clip as his campaign looks to regain its footing after the release of a surreptitiously-recorded video of the GOP presidential nominee speaking at a private fundraiser in May. Romney's campaign has been bogged down in criticism from conservatives and Democrats alike since the release of the clip, in which Romney talks about how he couldn't count on the support of 47 percent of Americans, since they pay no taxes, and are "dependent" on government.

The Republican candidate has used it as campaign fodder as recently as Wednesday.

"This is how America works. It does not work by a government saying, become dependent on government. Become dependent upon redistribution. That will kill the American entrepreneurship that’s lifted our economy over the years," Romney told donors at a fundraiser this afternoon in Atlanta. "The question of this campaign is not who cares about the poor and the middle class? I do. He does. The question is who can help the poor and the middle class? I can! He can’t!"

Going to hell was a pretty forceful way of persuading people to help the poor.

Romney wouldn't take something Obama said out of context and attack him for it now would he?

A weak-a$$ way to dilute the Romney "They're Mindless Moochers" video.

They think, Get Obama to waste his time defending himself on this and it will distract from Romney acting like he's the Goodyear blimp and we're all ants on the earth far below him.
