lol nice analogy. Tell her she also has the heart of a champion and she's gonna leave other candidates bamboozled.
Man really sorry to hear that, both me and the wife have gone through it this past year, luckily at different times. Can be very tough but try and stay as positive as you can, you'll make it through it.
Stinkin' mess. Just left the CareNow clinic... my 9 yr. old son has been diagnosed with early pneumonia. X-ray shows spots on his right lung. Wonderful couple of days we've had.
What they are doing is using this as an excuse to off shore some more. Lay off in the US blaming it on the economy and then rehire in India and China.
Our company is slow, but we're still making great profits...but we're the only company corporate wide who is making "profit" money, therefore over time is now axed ($9,000 lost for me) due to our other branches not making pay, a pay freeze is about to go in affect and they banned us from the internet for whatever reason. I guess since all of our other companies are slow everyone is sitting of My Space. Now we get warnings of termination for visiting sites non business related. I'm just thankful I have a secure job. No more spending in excess. Now I'm penny pinching and NOT looking at my 401k at all. So depressing.
Damn. I'm praying for you and your family. We're all in tough times right now, but it will get better.
Things are bad in India and China. Insane layoffs in China bc $30K millionaires in America arent buying 50" plasmas to go with the $350K McMansions they had no business buying in the first place. Layoffs in Bangalore have also been through the roof. Suicides, too. They call Bangalore the Suicide Capital of India. Unlike our press, who tend to suppress suicide news if they can, the press over there talks about it. Everyone, just hang tough. Its going to be a rough 2009.
Hey Iroc_it, will be thinking about you and your family. You guys are just in the worst part right now.
Wow IROC IT. I can't even quite imagine how hard this past year+ has been for you. As someone who's family is quite small now and has to watch their money since their dad passed away last year, I can empathize though. The good news is it can only get better from here, although it might be a lot slower than you'd like.
Thanks for the encouragement... And thanks everyone else for it as well. My son has been "downgraded" to asthmatic bronchitis... Problem is, my daughter has the same symptoms and was put on the same treatments. They've been well enough to go to school, because they have no fever... but they feel like dump. I have a cough now too... UPDATE on my wife's job search: She's had a few interviews scheduled for later this week, and we went job hunting in person on Tuesday. She's received tons of emails and calls from her last job claiming they want her back, but there is a hiring freeze... She's being pro-active though, with resumes and applications, etc. We did get good news at the church however, some donations came in that will help a bit. Seems she (and I, I guess) have made a positive impact on some folks... I may get an interview again in a week or so... a company I interviewed with back around Thanksgiving says I had to wait like 3 months between interview according to some policy, but they are interested in me coming in again. I been had interviews. I been had resumes. I been had a job, too.
UPDATE: She had her first solid interview today. The ones we did the other day were more like off-the-cuff, casual meetings. Will keep you updated... Kids are doing much better. I now have laryngitis. Yippeee!
UPDATE! My wife was re-hired in her old job, different position, today (the 24th)!!! This position is more stable. She gets to keep her tenure as if the layoff never occurred. She keeps her salary, 401(k) investments, IRA, etc. She basically just rode the emotional roller coaster for three weeks. In the mean time... I may have been hired on at a company she interviewed with, and had accepted... she got the phone numbers set up, fax service, ordered cards... then was re-hired to her old company... and the new gig has asked me to come in tomorrow and take the spot they offered her. The best part of that spot, is that I will be able to do it in the time I have from 8 AM -2 PM daily and still make plenty income. God was looking out for us on this one. By one major hardship hitting, we were forced to get out of our comfort zone and look into another field, and it resulted in a double blessing now that she has her old job back... As they say, the Lord works in mysterious ways! Layoffs are still intensely crappy... don't kid yourselves... I pray no one has this visit their household! And remember to be thankful if you have a job, especially in this season of doubt we're in. Thanks for all the prayers and support!
wow - missed the story the first time, but glad things worked out so well for you! Prayers can be answered. It's good to hear some positive stories these days.
