Not sure if this has been posted, but I'm not going through 100 pages of info. Anyway, thought people would like to know this! Update: Non-guaranteed in 2016-17; not team option.

One more tidbit: Sources say Lawson has agreed as condition of trade to make the final year of his contract -- 2016-17 -- non-guaranteed.
— Zach Lowe (@ZachLowe_NBA) July 20, 2015

I think it deserves it's own thread. Worst case scenario we have a 13mil instant cap relief trade chip to deal. In Morey we thrust.
This is just crazy. Shows he really wanted to be here as well if he is willing to put that clause in.
He has to be very motivated to play well. He can't pull a Rondo and quit on the team and still have another team throw a bunch of money at him because of his current issues.
Depending on the guarantee date, the Rockets will be able to acquire a max contract simply by trading Brewer next summer.
I'm pretty sure the reason this contract modification hasn't officially been announced by the Rockets is because it can't actually take place until the 3rd anniversary of Lawson signing his extension. Lawson signed his extension somewhere around October 30, 2012. So, I think the actual modification of his final season won't be able to be done until October 30, 2015 or whatever date he actually signed. So, right now it's a verbal agreement. And that's why Morey said there are other agreements that cannot be discussed right now. Bima.....wanna confirm this?
This is high way robbery against opposing GM, AND against player/agent in the trade! Has that ever happened in the NBA trade history?
What if Lawson does good? We just keep him at 13 mill and forget about pursuing Durant? How fast do we have to pick that team option?
It was done similarly in the Brewer tsar except he agreed to not exercise his player option or something to that effect.
Nothing short of incredible. Morey has really built something special. Very very impressive. All of the doubters may see their way to the Dallas board.
There's not even a risk involved in this trade anymore. This is highway robbery! Any they took Dorsey off the books? My god...
