Fudge. Guess they figured out the threat of losing him is real. Not losing hope, but I do hope Morey has his contingencies planned. I don't want Morey to spend on just anyone, but I don't want to be scraping to get into the playoffs again.
dillusional Rocket fans think having CP3 and Howard is the key to the Rockets game. Miami would obliterate the PF position with our lineup of TJones and Smith. I hope you guys havent forgotten how soft PPat was, but i still think id rather get KL or a LMA, JS type player over CP3... rather get Griffin at least he isnt soft and can catch lobs and is an all star.
Disagree. If they are playing Bosh at the 5, then the 4 is Lebron and you match Parsons up with him playing Garcia at the 3, Harden at the 2 and CP3 at the 1. Not all that difficult. My preference if you're getting Dwight is trading Asik for Josh Smith. Lin - Upside PG Harden - proven scorer, young superstar Parsons - Upside SF and great glue guy. Josh Smith - Defense SF or PF, rebounding, finishing on the fast break, some post ups with mis-matches and corner 3s Dwight - Defensive Center, low post option (needs more work with McHale/Olajuwon/Dawson) That's a well rounded starting 5 with some interesting backups Beverley - Energy guy, great PG defense, not a bad 3 point shooter. Garcia - Brought back using the Room provision, can play backup 2 or 3, good defender, lethal 3 point shot. Jones - Suitable PF backup, athletic, shotblocker. D-Mo - Great low post option Greg Smith - Great P&R finisher and ok defender. For 1 season that is pretty good. Look to improve with a backup 5 and a perimeter stopper in years to come.
Makes sense. You knew this would eventually happen, regardless of the fact it's "the mighty Lakers". But, Cy, our question is this - even though this excites Dwight and he'll certainly listen, is he still "as interested" in the Rockets as maybe Harden and Parson may believe? Is it still, in your opinion, going to come down to Lakers/Rockets?
Good grief. So they just now figured out that that was a good idea? If Howard is swayed by it, he's as shallow as Lake Travis. (pretty damn shallow for Travis... the drought is rediculous!) At any rate, thanks for the info. Much appreciated.
I mean...this isn't surprising. Did anybody really think they weren't going to court the **** out of him when free agency arrived? Of course they're going to try to woo him as much as possible. The Phil Jackson part is definitely big, though, if true. That could be a real big advantage, and maybe the difference, if that goes down, but who knows what Phil wants to do at this point? However...all it takes is 1 look at the roster to know that the Lakers are not where Dwight should sign, at least if he's serious about his "winning above all else" mindset, unless he's only clinging to the 2014 FA class.
Ahh, so the Lakers decided to pull the Phil Jackson card after all. It's crazy to think that one man can have so much hold over an organization. It's to the point where the Lakers truly believe that he is the answer to all of their problems. If Dwight truly trusts him enough to sign away the next 4 years with him, then there isn't much the Rockets can do to compete with that.
And certainly, though excited, he's got to know it WON'T be HIS team for the next two years at least.... regardless of what they say.
Cyber thanks for the update. I can't wait for this to be over. I'd love Dwight to come play for the Rockets but this is the third offseason where he has been the topic of discussion. You still have Lakers as the favorites? Unofficial consultant. Which is strange considering how he has belittled MDA.
