Landry finally makes his return tonight! And he really hasnt skipped a beat at all today. Still beasting the boards, slammed 2 shots down and stroked 1 long-mid range jumper before halftime
If this kid has his midrange jumper improved in the offseason, he can put up 20+pts a game easily (of course as long as he is a starter). He is going to be a Carlos Boozer to us. And Landry comes much cheaper.
You are right, he does play alot like boozer, only boozer can hit that 15footer contstantly!!! WE GOT A LIL BOOZER ON THA TEAM!!!
He doesn't play like Boozer at all, he is much more athletic and quicker than Boozer. If Landry continues to improve he is going to be really good, his athleticism sets him apart from most players, it is at an elite level. DD
17 points and 8 boards in 18 minutes............. should come out to about 26 points and at least 12 boards in 30 minutes. Good night Irene. On a serious note, I am worried about Landry physically. He seems to me to be like a high strung thoroughbred racehorse, very fast and explosive but operating on the edge of his body's capabilities all the time, one wrong tweak, and they break a leg, and career over. Don't get me wrong, I love the kid. And he does have basketball skills to go along with tremendous quickness and very, very good athleticism. But it's his quickness and athleticism emphasized combined with a good bball brain that makes him special. You take away that quickness, that ability to get up off the floor in a millisecond, throw it down, and run like a bat out of hades up and down the wing on the break, and Carl Landry becomes Carl Novak WITHOUT the accurate jumper. That's why we can't afford to give up either one of Scola or Landry. Scola lacks Landry's ability to get up and cram it, but he's got great quickness, and he will probably be much more endurable than Landry because he doesn't strain the limits of his body the way Landry does. Scola throws his body around on the floor like a linebacker and I'm sure will have plenty of bumps and bruises, but Landry's already got a serious injury history, and it's easy to see why when you watch him play. He's a high wire act, high risk, high reward, a very unique player. But we need Scola for insurance at the PF spot. Landry and Scola (and Hayes) make our PF rotation one of the best 5 PF rotations in the league. Think about that for a moment. We went from a big problem in the frontcourt to problem completely solved in one offseason.
Reality set in for me last night after the Golden State game, Landry does make a difference. And it's huge.
That is true... but a lot of guys come in to the NBA being able to leap out of the gym. Its when they add other dimensions, and continue to improve on their overall game each and every year, that they become future all stars. Boozer had several high flying dunks and was known to be an inside force from Duke when he first came to Cleveland... but once he got paid, he made a commitment to develop the overall game... and its why he's become so dangerous.
No doubt it had to do with hard work, and Boozer was considered a little fat in college....and he is NOT fat now. Landry is smart though, and I believe (or at least hope) that he continues to improve, he already moves without the ball a lot better than anyone on the team....because he is so quick..... The way he slips that screen is ....well...magical....Scola is great at it too, but Landry can catch the pass and finish before Luis is even into his 2nd or 3rd move. DD
Wow....I had not thought of that, but you are correct.....Landry is a smarter, harder working, better player than Stromile. Good call.... DD
has there been any reports of Landry's knee after last nights game?? Just wondering if he is going to be ready for the next game.
