If he is a gm trime decision today he must play on friday then.I hate the rockets medical staff. We don't know anything.
Well there ya go. Landry seems to be ok after all. See stick to the facts. Don't you all feel better now?
Matt Bullard said he did speak with Landry and he wasn't too positive about his knee. Bullard even said if Landry wants to make some good money, He's going to have to play soon because he isn't going to make a lot of money. I think Bullard has a point. If he doesn't show something soon, he isn't going to get paid. Bullard said he just hopes that Landry thinks about all the possible comes. He even mention saying if he has a little pain, he might have to just play. If he can't handle it, he's going to have to sit out. But overall, if he can tough it out... He should... I'm not sure if i agree about all of that. He might be able to "tough it out" but it might not be the best thing to do whether it's money smart or not.
Another reason we need Landry: He's the first person, since Hakeem, that you can say with conviction will make a bucket or get fouled when he catches it around the rim (maybe Cato). I'm not saying he's as good as the dream its just nice to see someone who is big and atheletic and can finish. Quite amazing for a rookie.
whether he plays tonight or not, something's definitely afoot regarding landry's knee. excuse the pun.
while the theory of being cautious is not entirely unreasonable since he's on a one-year contract, the opposite could hold water as well. he's a rookie. if he sits for an extended period of time, would that limit his chance to show what he can do on the court and thus bump up his bid for next year(s)? that's why i don't quite buy the theory that he's just being cautious.
I think what Bull says makes sense. I thought thats why he fell in the draft, the uneasiness teams had of that knee. If he doesn't play, he'll seem injury prone. Its a lose lose situation for him. Im sure he would much rather play anyway.
cool that's better than the way 610 phrased it for the Boston, yesterday at the 5:00pm hour. They said, "he's definitely out," not GTD.
Then why do we keep getting daily quotes from Landry in the Chronicle where he claims its improving each day.
I think it's now a "game time decision" because Landry is considering playing with pain. Is it a risk worth taking?
I think it's a little bit of both. It could be worth the risk in the sense of getting him paid. Not only that, it will give him some type to decide how he'll do if he just plays. I'm not a expert nor will i ever try to be but I think he'll have to work it out in a live game compared to just practice. The bad part is if he can't jump right nor use his legs, then it really not going to make a difference. It's only going to hurt him.
2nd Round picks usually only get a one year deal to start off with...gotta prove they belong in the NBA.
it's possible that Landry's agent demanded a one yr no options. As a high 2nd rd pick, the fastest way to getting a raise significantly over league minimum is by signing a 1yr with no options. There is risk if you get injured, but only if they guarantee your 2nd yr, which rarely happens for 2nd round picks. The team likes to require a team option on the 2nd yr at league minimum, which eliminates the ability to become a restricted free agent should you have a promising 1st yr.
He played in the DALLAS game already....I don't think it is a big deal if he plays..... This just seems like he is being overly cautious. Yes, yes, I know....my hairbrained theory.....but it makes sense. He might be a bit like Tmac and afraid there is more to it than what the doctors are saying... DD
He isn't playing. And on the radio I heard the coach say what sounded like a tag line of "we are all hopeful" I think he memorized it because he first corrected it then repeated it later. Seems like they are all holding the line so something is up.
missing Landry is huge, although Harris has been admirable in backup he still is missed severly, I hope he can make it back in time for the playoffs.
