That would be you're, but I know we don't require many writing classes for our pre-medical students these days. As for believing your diagnosis, see my last post.
damn that is some bad news. how long does it take to recover from a torn ACL? also will he gain his athleticism back?
Chuck434, Come on bro, How can you be 100% sure.......... I am certainly no doctor, but I get knee swelling a lot as does my wife, and it has nothing to do with our ACLs.... There are many things that can cause the knee to swell up and get fluid that do not include the ACL..... Torn Meniscus can cause that.... TONS Of things...according to this site 16 different causes Plus, Yao only got 3 screws inserted in his foot....not 5....and the reason it took so long is they also took out bone spurs. As for the spelling thing, Doctors are notoriously bad spellers, just look at their prescriptions they fill out.... Ultimately you may be right, but Landry has been practicing lately, and if he tore his ACL, he could not practice, right? DD
if he retore it how could he have played the next game? when i retore my ACL i knew i did something bad to my knee immediately. it wasn't the catastrophic event like when i tore it the first time so i didn't think i tore my ACL again but i thought i did some meniscus damage. i had significant swelling for the next few days as well. this kind of swelling would have certainly been noticeable in the game he played after he got hurt. if landry did retore his ACL then it's pretty likely he will need microfracture as well. so if this is the case then don't expect anything from landry anytime soon. and to your yao comments....wasn't a different surgeon that did yao's foot?
Doc may be on to something since Landry hasn't play and has worked out intensely. I thought Landry hurt the knee really bad in the game against Dallas on a hard foul by Stackhouse. It looked as if he twisted the knee badly and needs a couple of weeks to rehab. If his ACL was torn, dude would be in a cast and on crutches.
you have to have acl reconstruction surgery and in my case i had to have microfracture as well. if that's the case for landry then it will be about 18 months.
from my understanding a retorn acl isn't as traumatic of an event. i hate to sound as if i am an expert but considering my knee injuries i know a pretty fair amount.
Not being a doctor, I have to ask, is it really possible to have two MRIs and not have a torn ACL show up? Is that why they have MRIs? To spot stuff like that? It just seems hard to believe that a professional medical staff could miss such a thing for so long.
As an engineer, I deal in facts. That is why this entire thread bugs me to no end. There are no facts. Only heresay and conjecture. It is the same thing that bugged me before we knew the facts about Yao. Yes maybe Landry is injured and has torn his ACL again. But until the medical staff of the Rockets releases information to that effect, I remain optimistic that it's nothing more than tendonities. Bit of swelling from water on the knee from a torn bursa.
I've got no reason to not believe your backstory, but this statement is full of ****. I don't know if you're bitter about something, but Tom Clanton is outstanding, and you wouldn't have to ask too many people in the Med Center to get a consensus on that. I've worked with him, Dr Winston, and a few others, and you're the first person I've ever run across trying to knock him for something other than keeping his plate too full. Whatever your beef or jealousy is, get over yourself. You sound like someone fresh out of a surgical fellowship thinking way too much of himself. Evan
So what do we know for sure about Landry at this point? What I'm reading in this thread is pretty unnerving. I admittedly haven't had time to browse through every post, but I was wondering if any new confirmed news has come to light? Thanks.
