My guess is they're holding Landry out because they want to pace his return to the lineup and don't like the idea of him having to play tough back-to-back games. Most likely he returns tomorrow.
if he doesn't come back at all on this road trip, i'll start to get a little worried. but you make a very good point.
imo the longer he is out the more risk is added to his next contract. his surgically repaired knee which required a brace last season lasted only 25 consecutive nba games.
It was his other knee and no relation to his prior injury. This was a collision with another player. It happens, but there is no reason to consider it chronic.
I seriously doubt the Yao Ming thing changed the way they do their job. We were fortunate to catch Yao's injury early (way early for this type of injury). There is no liability on the part of the Rocket's trainers and med. staff. Also, the injured knee is NOT the same one as the ACL repair!

I am a bit worried that he is out this long with this type of injury. I imagine that after the Tmac knee fiasco earlier this season the doctors have left no stone unturned in making sure there is no structural damage. This kid might be a slow healer or, more likely, it was a particularly nasty collision that he tried to play through. Have to love his toughness. Sit this kid out 10 more games if that's what it takes to get him healthy for the playoffs. We are going to need him for sure.
Okay, if those sources are correct, then I am obviously wrong. I read it early on that it was his other knee (I guess his left). Still, I have not heard it linked in any way to his prior injuries.
I don't think that's a fair thing to say. By all accounts Landry has been desperate to play the entire time. I don't understand why anyone can't see the wisdom of erring on the side of caution because he's so young and promising. He could be the cornerstone of our franchise if he maintains the kind of athleticism he's shown this year.
Oh my god, enough with the bs, why are everyone just guessing and coming up with false statements, a couple of hours ago everyone was saying that Landry was in and now he's out. This is the NBA no swedish minor league...
I dont see how some of you arent worried. We continue saying that he'll probably play the next game...oh, it'll be another game...he's gonna sit out tonight, but he'll be back soon. Come on. This is a young kid...and a bruised knee wont completely take you out of the action. Also, a bruised knee may not allow him to play 100%, but he could definitely play after a week. If this wasnt his surgically repaired knee, it wouldnt scare me. But, this knee was a problem before and now, Im starting to think that its going to be a problem in the future. Not good news at all.
Not really ... he's said repeatedly that he wants to be very cautious with it and he's not going to play until he's sure that he's 100%. I'm not blaming him for that attitude, but that's not what I'd being "desperate to play".
i was just watching espn news ch116 on comcast and they were interviewing bullard and unless i heard wrong he said landry could probably play tonight......
