http://www.chron.com/disp/story.mpl/sports/bk/bkn/5843642.html Cassell looks back at championships with Rockets By JONATHAN FEIGEN Copyright 2008 Houston Chronicle June 18, 2008, 1:10AM With the subject of Olajuwon coming up, Cassell was asked about the Finals meeting with the Rockets and Bulls that never was. "They had Michael Jordan, but we had Hakeem Olajuwon," Cassell said. "We didn't have anyone to stop Michael Jordan, but they didn't have anyone to stop Hakeem Olajuwon. We might have (won), but it would have been fun to play them. (Vernon Maxwell) was the guy that was feisty enough. You're not going to stop Michael Jordan, but he could contain him. He used to have good games against Michael Jordan. And we still had the big fella in the paint to dominate."
1995 would have been great to. Who is going to guard Hakeem? Luc Longley, Bill Wenington, Will Purdue? Lol...Hakeem would average 40+ on them no joke. Jordan would get his defnitiely, but Clyde was not exactly a slouch.
that would be motivation for Clyde to get revenge on Jordan. a really cool what if situation for 95 would be: 1. jordan beat orlando somehow with that 95 bulls lineup 2. maxwell didn't go awol, so we have both maxwell and drexler on the team I believe it would be a slaughter. 1. that 95 bulls front line without rodman would all foul out because they have to guard dream, obviously they couldn't handle Shaq in the real 95 season. 2. maxwell would just play defense on jordan and clyde could spend his energy on offense 3. Kenny Smith / Cassell >>>>>>>> Armstrong/Kerr 4. Robert Horry - That was his best playoff season, he caused matchup problems for the Spurs/Magic. Horry was at his best jacking up clutch 3s, getting steals, block shots.
I would have liked to see Reggie Miller hit those free throws in game 6 and then go on to lose to us in the finals.
I was hoping last year Von Wafer could assume the Mad Max role on this team. Their games seem similar, at least on the offensive end. I wonder how Von's doing, and whether we'll ever see him again.

Thank you Tinman, Max was my man. I go to know Max very well after the Laker's game when Coop was torching him in the 1st half. I was sitting about 3 rows up and told Max to D up because he was getting lit up and Max dropped the F-Bomb. Later we saw each other in the DaClub and he walked up to me and said don't scream at me I get enough from the F-Bomb coaches. I said play D and I won't have to and we started laughing and have been cool since that night. My main man, tough as nails and Jordan will tell you that he played the best D of all on him.
From the Jordan Rules <iframe frameborder="0" scrolling="no" style="border:0px" src="http://books.google.com/books?id=zilYagKLBM0C&lpg=PA230&dq=vernon%20maxwell%20kenny%20smith&lr=&as_brr=3&pg=PA230&output=embed" width=500 height=500></iframe>
Offensive end is only 1/3 of it. He didn't play defense and he has quite a few arrests he needs to catch MadMax. I am sure if he put his mind to it, he can be a dead beat dad and a woman beater. Hopefully, he won't quit on the team before he gets to those goals.
http://clutchfans.net/news/1549/rudy_t_reflects_on_rockets/ On the Rockets vs. Bulls debate I finally got a chance to talk to Michael Jordan years [later] over at Barkley's house and he thought that the best matchup they would have had during that era was against us because of the way Max used to play him and how our big guys used to dominate their inside.
remember to leave politics out of this forum, sir. Nobody can help it if you're wrong and I'm okay with that.
