I'm not making any determination about that. Whether or not one individual can make a difference in a particular situation is outside the scope of my point/response to thadeus's position.
Sammy Bin Fisher, if anyone deserves unending wrath it is you. As far as "forked tongue", I wish someone would stick a fork in your tongue - repeatedly.
Finally someone says it (better than me as usual). I see the "if you support the war, ENLIST!!" argument thrown around this forum all the time. I can never figure out who is being facetious and who is actually serious. If you're being serious, that's a slippery slope. Where does this idea that you can't support a cause if you're not actively participating in it stop?
I thought "supporting the troops" meant that you let other people fight in your place, lie about your own service and then attack the patriotism and service of veterans when they disagree with you. Oh, and focusing on little yellow ribbons, Pat Tillman and car magnets in lieu of giving the troops the leadership, numbers, supplies, planning and weaponry to actually win the war they're fighting. I see all kinds of troop support like that. I say that if you a) support the war and b) are an able bodied person and c) call others who disagree with you a coward and a traitor then you should a) enlist, or b) refrain from calling other people cowards. Isn't this simple logic and human decency? It's no coincidence that many of the biggest warmongers on the BBS, and in Washington have never sniffed a battlefield and never will. People that cavalierly throw around terms like "traitor" and "coward" are morally compelled to back up their talk.
There are some people on this bbs who appear to be rooting for the other side. What should they be called?
Interesting that the labelling of some people (cowards, traitors) offends your sensibilities while you simultaneously label those you don't agree with as 'warmongers.' I, for one, don't know what calling someone a 'traitor' has to do with enlisting (although I don't find the accusation of 'traitor' to be particularly productive).
I'll respond to your post when you stop talking out of anger and hatred and begin talking with respect for opinions other than yours. I disagree with many of the posters on this board. However, many of them at least have the decency to say what they will in a semi-civil manner. As far as supporting the troops, you don't know what some of these people have done to support the troops. Just because they haven't enlisted, they're cowards or hypocrites? When I donate to charities or to causes I support, I don't go around and toot my own horn about it. Feel free to claim that I'm a hypocrite who hasn't donated a thing. I know the truth and I'm fine with that. FB, I never said that I chose or determined how they feel. I do enjoy hearing of terrorist cells being hit by bombs. If it makes me a bad person, OK. I feel just as horrible when I hear that an American bomb killed innocent civilians. The only difference is that I admit it. I'm not saying YOU don't support the troops but I am saying that I think many on the far (and some on the not so far left) don't. I wonder where I get this idea... oh and... ...and then there was...
No, but I can think of 2 members of this board that I feel are representative of the fringe left. The images are posted because some of you seem to be dumbfounded as to why anyone would feel some people don't support the troops and call those of us that feel that way naiive. I was merely showing some proof that there are people like that in America. We're seriously not making it up. The point of view exists. It's not shared by a majority but I never said it was. Some of the posters on this bbs get very defensive, though and seem to think we're lumping all of them into the "hate the troops" category. I know I'm not saying ALL of you feel this way. I would, however, be willing to bet that at least 1 or 2 of the members of this board don't support the troops and that at least 1 member is rooting for US failure in Iraq.
halfbreed - thanks for sharing those pictures. As disgusting as they are, I hope they open up peoples' eyes to the side that many support.
The source is photobucket? Feel free to share your friggin story. I have a feeling some posters from the right, I can think of 4 or 5 on this board, are rooting for committing atrocity against innocent civilians.
I know you may be new to the internet. However, there's this thing called image hosting. In order to not steal bandwidth from another site, a user can save an image to their computer and then upload it to this really neat site. This site will host the image allowing said user to post the image into a thread so other users don't have to click a link to go to the site to view the image. For example: Notice you had to click no link! Witchcraft, you say? Nay, tis a wonder of modern science. Try it! One and All!
I like how a halfbred kid would teach me modern science. You could've made up these anti-vets images easily.
