Hahaha. This was your post to me:

"Okay, if your going to make outragous claims that the DP is "Proven Racist" then im going to need to see the proof your talking about.

Otherwise your just talking out your ass."

I said that the death penalty is carried out in a racist manner, which you recognized, not the justice system as an entity (even though it is extremely racist).

Hey, dude... check it... so... should we start holding trials without showing the face of the defendant to the jury and the prosecutors?

I think it's a good idea: "Your honor... this defendant is guilty! I know because someone told me he's black!" :D Would be hilarious.

You know what I mean? Let's start this request somewhere... I bet it will take off!

^^ :D Have everyone, including the judge, not reveal their race... :D keep their faces covered throughout the entire trial... all we hear is their testimony and we can record it all... except no one knows who is black, white, brown, purple, yellow, green, etc.

I think it should be split into 2 threads. THis one was just an interesting thread about the final words of death row inmates

Another thread should be made whether or not you agree with the death penalty

that's what i was curious about. You seem to have more of an issue with the accuracy than the actual act. Makes sense.

    you're a douche bag. whew.

ok. back to normality. carry on.

This is pretty idiotic. Much like it's common knowledge that African Americans are prejudiced by the judicial system, it's also common knowledge that a "high profile" or wealthy defendant stands a much better chance at getting off the hook, so to speak.

The government has an infinite amount of money to spend on resources, testing, etc. to prove their case. Going against a defendant who can't afford a lawyer and is using a public defender is a HUGE disadvantage for that defendant. The fact that the "high profile" defendants can afford their higher legal representation and defense levels the playing field, something that the poorer defendants do not get the benefit of.

Agreed. I've talked about this in the D&D before (that's why I was trying to avoid it here). It's not about revenge or closure for me - it's about justice. I think these crimes (actually, I'd argue more crimes) deserve death.

Sure we can postulate that x% of death row inmates are innocent, or wrongly accused. But that's not an issue with the penalty, it's an issue with the system. Major argued (at the time) that a sensible method of compensation for these flaws in the system is to eliminate the death penalty in favor of life in prison. I found that argument unconvincing, since the injustice still occurs, and deserved punishment in many cases would be deterred.

Don't like the way the death penalty is applied? Fix the justice system. Otherwise, just throw the whole damn thing out.

    HI HO D&D AWAY!
