hopefully you are correct, and he is coasting.... for our sakes hopefully he still has it in him to raise his game to a level we consistently observed in his first season here... If we had T-mac of THAT season, i definitely see the Rockets advancing a couple of rounds this year in the playoffs, and when Yao comes back next season.... anything short of a ring would be a disappointment..... However, if the T-mac of now plays in the playoffs, we will not survive a single seven game series against any of the other 7 western conference playoff teams.
So - did you see Carmelo or Carter get hot? Because I didn't. Why are you trying to imply that his man torches him? Has that happened in the past months? (no) It's an unfair stigma that people associate w/ him WITHOUT substantial proof. Statistically all that you've just said isn't apparent. Play like he cares? You know he went to the line 7 times in the first half last night? He was hustling even when his shot wasn't falling.... and it wasn't enough. The Nuggets just played the better game.
There are no personal insults in what I posted. The closest thing would be that I said "silly observations", I didn't say you are silly. And who wants to talk about reading comprehension? And you didn't say anything about it being OK if he didn't hit 50% in a game if he averaged 45% for the season, did you just arbitrarily come up with that? Your post was specifically harping on FG%, when it is something that guards don't typically attain (50% shooting for a game). If you want to talk about him jacking 3s or his jump shot, that is a different topic, and not what the original post's main point was. And its just ridiculous to assert that he is a horrible shooter, finisher, slasher, defender, or whatever else you mentioned. I mean, give me a break. Its one thing to say he isn't playing to everyone's expectations, because I'm a T-MAC fan and I expect more out of him. But to say he's "horrible" at all those things? Comon. Get real.
Hahaha so pin the losses on McGrady. He's the only one who showed up in game 7 of either one of those series. Hell, in the case of Dallas he was the only one who showed up for all 7 games. Really now, trying to point to his PLAYOFF performances as criticism makes you look biased.
I think these stats are pretty telling. I compared Tracy to a couple of similar "sometimes star, sometimes superstar" players (Vince Carter, and Paul Pierce LAST year) and he does not compare well at all. I used Pierce from last year because frankly, he blows Tracy out of the water this season. As is, Tracy is worst in every possible way. All his %'s are the lowest, he makes the least FT's, he takes (and misses) the most jumpers, he takes the least close shots (by a huge margin), and he's the only player of the 3 that has either a lower TEAM FG% or lower TEAM Rebounding % when he's ON the court (and he has BOTH of them). Now before anyone says I'm hating on Tracy, check yourself. These are stats, which I am simply presenting in this thread without influence of my opinion. It's called being objective, which I know is hard for some of the blind TMac apologists to understand. I do understand how important Tracy is to this team, and how bad they would be without him, but that doesn't mean that he can't be a better, mostly smarter player. His shot selection and lack of finishing around the basket (when he does go there) is frankly, pitiful.
You do realize only one of them are perennial All-NBA team and will finish with a position on the MVP ballot. Hint: Not Paul Pierce or Vince Carter.
I'm not an TMAC "apologist", but I'm assuming you meant objective. I'm definitely one who will agree that T-MAC settles for jumpers too frequently.
[sarcasm]No, I didn't, but I love bringing up irrelevant information![/sarcasm] Only one of them hasn't been out of the first round. Ever. Hint: Not Paul Pierce or Vince Carter. See how that works?
Ha...yeah, I obviously meant objective. I blame it on the fact that I'm at work and had to type everything while nobody was looking
Everyone is entitled to their opinions and people are bound to have differences of opinions of players and we can bring up stats forever. He isn't the only player to ever have lower stats compared to what he produces on the floor. I just wish we could keep the arguments realistic, i mean come on. High percentage shooting and good shooting guard are not synonymus. Monta Ellis isn't even a top 10 wing player but if you rely only on stats to make you're decisions on a player's skill level then you would say he's the best. I obviously think higher of tmac than alot of you guys but even i know he isn't what he used to be and is declining. Sometimes the points made are very valid but when its masked in a ball of hate of saying someone is a crappy player all of your credibility flies out of the window. If you think he's a crappy player and he (without yao) is by far our best player, what are you saying about our team? That's why people start ranting about you guys not being real fans because how could you be? If you think our best player sucks then our team must really suck to you and how does a fan think his team really sucks?
Paul Pierce had equal talent, probably more than what T-Mac had this year or last year without Yao(Al Jefferson alone makes this case). He didn't do s*** with it even when he was healthy. One year he did good with A. Walker with a loaded Celtics team which made East Finals. Shame on you for even bringing up Vince(aka I never had a 50win season) Carter in the same discussion as T-Mac. He couldn't make the playoffs with a fully healthy squad in the East. The guy is a straight up bum. And since you piling up stats go pull up T-Mac's playoff stats compared to Vince and PP. And the "never got out the first round" line doesn't hold any water. They don't hand out 2nd round T-shirts. Lets go ask Vince about that 2nd round trophy. T-Mac is putting up less numbers so what. We are winning games. His impact on the court is of MVP status. Defenses plan for him every game, he sees the most double and triple teams in the league(at the very least as much as Lebron and Kobe) and with no one else able to create a shot he stills does the damn thing and wins games. He's not the end-all be-all, but he sure is a great player and top 10 in the league this day.
CCR, trying to reason with McGrady fans is a lost cause. I admire your patience and effort, but there are much more productive uses for your time. Godspeed.
Dang that is one fricken sadly telling post....ugh..... And you would think that after so many years of failing, Tmac would get tired of settling and do everything in his power to "Impose his will" on the season. Oh, well, same old Tmac. DD DD
This is a fact, Rockets go more on how TMac goes than anyone else. When Tmac wants to win a game we win them, when he decides to show up (like vs. Suns the other day) we win those games. Tmac is just a lazy ass, he isn't overrated, he is just a lazy ass. Guy has talent, we all know that, He still has game (when he wants to show it), he just needs to show it everyday and he rarely ever does, which is why he can't win in playoffs. Hopefully this year he shows up every game.
Everything you're saying is irrelevant to what I originally posted. It doesn't matter if Tracy is a 6th man on the worst team or the greatest player we've ever seen. It doesn't change his shooting %'s or shooting tendencies, which are unimpressive. And I never ignored his positive impact on the team. In fact, I said this... So take your argument to the people responsible for the statistics. You'll find them on NBA.com under the names McGrady, Carter, and Pierce.
I think there are a couple of big reasons for T-Mac's sub-par performances at times. First of all, you have to look at the defense teams are playing on T-Mac, he's the only one on the team who demands a double team. When Yao's around, defenders will be running around, and therefore it would make it even easier for him to attack the basket be cause the defenders are covering Yao under the basket. They won't be covering Deke. They hardly pay any attention to him. I think that's a large reason to why he's been shooting much more than attacking the basket. I feel if Landry steps it up to the next level in the playoffs, it'll be easier for T- Mac to drive in. Something else. I think T-Mac needs to move the ball faster along with the team. When the ball moves, good things happen. As long as he keeps the ball moving he'll get better looks. One last thing. He needs to get more athletic. It has nothing to do with his injuries, he just needs to catch up with his players when they're running down the court. Here's a big difference between him and Kobe. When Kobe gets the ball stolen from him, he sprints back to try to block the fastbreak. T-Mac just walks and watches the gay lay it in. I don't know if it has to do with his laziness, athleticism, or his fear of getting into an injury but I really hope he can work on his running and endurance.
Out of all people, I can't believe you STILL haven't realized this. Maybe the 16.5% to 83.5% pole results will help refresh your memory
