^ this....OP mustve spent hours coming up with this thread and trade ideas. I dont see anything trades til the regular season. Too many unknowns for now.
All of those, except trade #5 are ridiculously in our favor. So none of those and nothing like those would ever happen. And as for #5, why would we want Prince and Daye? I don't get it.
Welcome to CF. #1, #4, and #7 - I don't see why Houston would trade for an established support player without having a franchise player. Adding wins to a team that has no chance of contention while losing flexibility and experience moving forward is just counterproductive. Also, those are 2 PFs. It's a position that we don't need now (...and yes, I'm aware that AJ plays the C spot for Utah). #2 - Toronto won't trade their top dog in Bargnani for Martin as a kicker because that position is already stacked in Toronto. They have Fields, DeRozan, and just drafted T. Ross. Also, Ariza won't be coming back for a bunch of reasons. #3 - Salaries won't match and I don't see the Cavs getting rid of their most viable SF while also taking mins away from Waiters. The Cavs could make a trade but your deal will have to be drastically restructured in order to make it work. #5 - Besides the salaries, why would we want 2 more SFs when we already have 3 or 4 that can play the position? At the very least, we already have Chandler and Delfino that can work the SF rotation. Also, I don't see the reason they'd trade for Martin. They already have Stuckey (combo G), Bynum, and Maggette (swing) who'll most likely start at the postion. #6 - No way Sac eats that much salary. you just traded them ~$22 mil in salaries...even if it is only for a year. Also, GSW's pretty confident about Klay. If they're looking to trade one of their players, it'll probably for defensive presence or a good rotational big. Not another SG that needs touches because GSW has enough of those already on their roster. There's a bit more to knit pick here and there. The most apparent would be salaries but, barring that reason, the points I listed above should be enough to kill those deals.
first off, this should be in random trade idea thread. you are massively over rating Martins stock. there's no way we could pull off a Martin for Al Jefferson straight up. Cavs 1st rounder?? pipedream to say the least.
If the question of this ENTIRE thread is soley around- "What to do with Kevin Martin?" then the answer is simple- -You either dump him for literally NOTHING, and possibly take back bad salary in the process. Maybe... just maybe you get a draft pick out of it, but it wont be a quality pick like the Toronto 1st rounder. Most likely a late 1st round pick or a second round pick. However, if you are going to get a 1st round pick, you MUST take back a bad contract almost certainly. Might be better off arranging a buyout if you want him gone that bad. Thats how bad his trade value is now. or -You play him the first few weeks of the season. Take a chance that a team like Philly or Indiana feels like they are in a good position to make a playoff run in February, and need wing scoring enough to make a deadline deal for a quality asset in return for Martin. If he's performing at 70% of what he was a season ago there should be no problem getting something back at the deadline. To me, thats a no-brainer. You create positive communication with Kevin Martin on this situation so he knows that his best interests are in mind in respect to getting him in the best possibly situation to win, and getting the Rockets a positive deal in return. He should be professional enough to help both parties out in the process and play well the first couple months in the season.
^^ What he said. If we're gonna rebuild, do it right and don't stray. Youth with talent, high draft picks, or gtfo.
only possible would be probably ppatt and martin for al jeff which i wouldnt really want , hang on to martin and throw him away @ the deadline we usually do better there plus ppatt breakout season oppurtunity is now even espn have him as a dark horse mip winner so y trade him and a nice expiring contract scorer for a dude with an injury history and is a good player on ****ty teams
No, Im a rockets fan. Everyone on there hates Houston. HAHAHAHAHA. No. But all these trades actually have came from BleacherReport writers and commenters. There were alot more absurd ones too. Like Martin and Lamb for Kyrie Irving. That one i almost shot myself over. Alot of people on there Have really dumb ideas. These were the least dumb. Thanks for replying and for some reason, BleacherReport turned me down...
ahh now it makes sense. first impression was wow, this person put so much effort in this, but only one or two suggestions look semi realistic. but if it's all from Bleacher Report, it's understandable. Martin's trade value - unless he has a really good year - is probably something like Mo Williams. Remember, the Cavs turned him into a late lotto pick (which eventually won the lotto and became Kyrie), just not straight up, but by taking on a worse contract (Baron Davis). Then the Clippers turned him into Lamar Odom. It's not much, but I wouldn't expect much more. You aren't getting marginal all stars like Granger, etc, or good picks for him, unless you add something good or take back bad contracts.
See my above post from this afternoon. You aren't getting a draft pick with the "POTENTIAL" to be a "LATE" lottery pick at best before the season starts without taking back a bad contract in the process. Thats something I probably wouldn't be willing to do because..... If Martin puts out a quality performance in the first half of the season, teams will want him. Especially when injuries start to happen and teams are desperate to make a playoff run they will be very interested in giving up a draft pick or a nice young player for Kevin Martin at that point. Right now, you are better off just buying him out if you don't want him on the team anymore that bad. You aren't getting a "GOOD" draft pick for him without mortgaging the future taking on a really bad contract in the process. Everyones in a big hurry to get rid of Kevin Martin, but patience will pay off significantly in this case if you understand the market, and how its going to change around the trading deadline in February.
1- would never happen, they wouldn't take that package for smith and neither would I 2- see #1 and replace smith with bargnani 3- why would we do that? 4- see #1 and replace smith with Jefferson 5- lmao, so kevin martin could get us jefferson by himself, but we have to trade martin AND a pick for a declining player and a tweener.... no 6- why would the warriors do this again? They basically give up klay thompson for thorton... not gonna happen
In a heartbeat...quick before Charlotte change their mind! Do it! Do it!Do it! At this point, I would trade Morris for anything resembling a basketball player.
