kobe completely lets the team down, barely shooting and not scoring from the field in the 2nd quarter. everybody else with fouls, turnovers, soft play. the celtics are so much better at blowing team out than everybody else and they just put on a clinic. the lakers need another year and vujacic and the foulers need a couple of kicks in the ass to straighten their brains out.

Best...Defense...Ever! I've not seen defense like that since the late 80's/early 90's. This Celtics team demoralizes you on defense, even Kobe is hanging his head. Just a DOMINATING, DOMINATING team.

This is the first game where I can actually say that we're seeing this Celtics team -- for the first time in this entire postseason -- playing near their full potential, with all cylinders working. When they do, we're seeing the results: it's not even close.

Unbelievable! I can't remember the last time an opponent was this thoroughly dominated/demolished/demoralized in an NBA Finals game. Scary, just scary...

I kind of feel sorry for Kobe, but on the other hand I'm happy for KG.

Like Van Gundy pointed out, just looking at the teams' benches gives you an indication what the team's made of. Sam Cassell gets up from the bench and walks all the to the scorer's table rooting Garnett for making a good shot.

Lakers bench looks flat and ininvolved, even with 1st team Sideline Cheerleader Ronny Turiaf there.

With Phil Jackson, Kobe and Derek Fisher, the Lakers show a surprising lack of on-court leadership. Basically I'm saying I'm not that fond of how this team plays...

But still the Celtics are just too good not matter what the Lakers throw at em.

It's not always about the Lakers not doing something, I have to give credit to a flat-out dominant team that's defensively demolishing your "best offense in the league" Lakers. Not even the Spurs could slow you guys down. Celtics' defense is just that much better than everyone else, they really haven't played like it thus far (except for one half in Game 4...and we know how that turned out when they finally did). Kobe is still Kobe, he's just being flat out shut down right now, there is nothing wrong with his shot.

Lakers showing how SOFT they really are...I'm impressed with Rondo he has good bball instincts too, especially stealing the ball and being active on defense.

Celtics are just tougher and play more physical. Gasol is scared out there.

People were saying Celtics sucked and even I disliked their big 3 but hey, they made it all the way here, winning all those 7 game series and beating up on all those jokers. If they win the Championship they've deserved it.

Missed the entire first quarter. Good for me.

I'm not that surprised the Celts are winning decisively, but I didn't expect them to rip the heart out of the Lakers in the 2nd quarter. If the Lakers don't show some heart in the 2nd half and make a major push, this will put a stain at the end of a successful season.

    8 FGs for the Lakers
    <30% from the field
    0 offensive rebounds
11 TOs (vs 4 for the Celts)

And the Lakers can't complain about a foul disparity (12 for them; 13 for the Celts).

After Doc's technical, the Lakers hit a basket to make it 32-29. They got outscored 26-6 to close out the 2nd quarter. Looks like Doc had good timing with that "T".

tigermission1, the Celts "D" is great, but don't forget a couple of the Bulls teams. The difference is the Lakers aren't putting up a great fight. It makes the Celts defense seem better than it really is (historically). But the bottom line in this series is the Celts are better and when they play hard defense the Lakers have no chance.

With all due respect, the Chicago Bulls of 1996-1998 had a better defense.

    1993-94 Rockets was better

Hakeem -best defensive player that God created
Horry - young and athletic shot blocker
    Otis Thorpe - A Rock
    Maxwell - Jordan stopper
    Mario Elie - toughness personified

You know how this board would be if Tracy was playing a game like Kobe is right now most people on here would want him dead.

Does every damn thread have to turn into a T-mac vs. insert players name type of thread. Got damn.
