Didn't they talk about how Sura's contract as a trade asset, I guess now they failed to make any kind of deal. Oh well. When will be that "one more move" to put us ahead of Spurs, Mavs, Suns.
Yep. Taller, longer, more disruptive defender, better shooter, and I didn't see him make a damn fool out of himself nearly every time he got the ball this preseason. People question my preference for Reed as if Snyder hasn't looked like a complete piece of trash.
Rick Adelman has to submit a list of 12 active players before each game. Those 12 players (out of the 15 roster players) can be different from one night to the next. Most likely, the typical gameday roster will be: STARTERS: Rafer Alston Tracy McGrady Shane Battier Chuck Hayes Yao Ming BENCH ROTATION: Mike James Luther Head Bonzi Wells Luis Scola SPOT MINUTE PLAYERS: Steve Francis Kirk Snyder Dikembe Mutombo INACTIVE LIST: Steve Novak Aaron Brooks Carl Landry Most likely, the Rockets will not send all three of Novak, Brooks and Landry down to the D-League. If anyone gets injured at the last minute, the team needs a 13th player to play. Brooks and/or Landry will probably get some time in the D-League, though.
I don't know. If I were the coach, I'd think about putting Deke on the Inactive List depending on what the opposing center(s) look like... and I see Carl getting perhaps a bit more time than most think he will.
All the right choices IMO. Lucas was no brainer with the glut of PGs and Brooks will be better in the long run. How many "tweener" 4s do we need? Scola, Hayes, & Landry are enough. What did Reed have that we can't get out of those 3 guys? Same can be said for Mike Harris. Butler looked like a fat slob all preseason. I don't care what his age is. It's sad when you are outplayed by a 43 year old. Deke will be fine for this year and we can pick up a backup big next offseason (or draft one). Meanwhile Novak gives us a different dimension with his shooting and Snyder is an athlete that can play multiple positions. Both can/should find places in Adelman's system. And if not they are tradeable assets later. You weren't going to get much if anything for Reed, Lucas, or Butler. Enough talk, now lets get the season started!
Also Novak could be part of a trade down the road with a team that in dire need of 3pt shooting. We haven't seen his full potential yet, he was a rookie last season and usually you don't see any results until the guy matures into his 2nd and 3rd year in the league. A 3pt shooter like him needs to be playing with guys that can attract attention ie.(double and triple teams), so he can help spread the floor.
I agree with you. But I think that some nights we may need Carl and Deke so I would put Snyder on the inactive list. Doesn't seem like there are too many fans of Snyder on this board anyway. Maybe trade Snyder for some picks or something and have Deke and Landry on the active list full-time.
Um... I doubt seriously that you want Scola shooting a three. I would rather have Yao shooting it. Novak in that instance can be useful because at the very least he can be a decoy.
If they choose to go over LT next season, they'll be roughly under LT by around 10M. Trading Rafer now when other teams are still desperate for a point could remedy that situation. Otherwise this situation will repeat itself, ie no takers.
Wasn't giving Battier time at the 4 one the things Rocks management and JVG butted heads with? Maybe we'll see that as it could open up minutes for Bonzi and Head.
Once they cut Harris (which meant Novak made the team), it was obvious this is what would happen. Now Novak, AB & Landry can play in the D-league. If the Rockets can trade Snyder away, they can being Harris back. I'd be surprised if Snyder isn't on the trading block for free.
Whatever battier, it doesnt matter the 4 is the one who throws the ball in anyways in that situation. Novak SUCKS. WOOOOOOOO
And often times its the person that throws the ball in that takes the last shot. So you do care who is bringing the ball out of bounds. The only time you wouldn't want a shooter to be that fourth guy (other than yao) is if there were less than 2 secs on the clock. Novak has one more year to prove he can play. If he does get time down in the DLeague I think that will help him improve to a rotation player. He already looked better this year than last. Not that it would have taken much.
Its not a good thing when your upside is matt freaking bullard. I dont see any point in keeping him when we have more capable three point shooters in head, james, and battier. Tmac and Rafer can make it at a decent clip. If we want a slow guy standing at the line we could put yao out there, im sure he's gonna be able to shoot it just as good as novak. How about this team try to get a player that is athletic and have brains and shoot the rock instead of a player that can only do one of those. Mike Harris can do all three ding ding ding. Oh yeah and i forgot to mention a good midseason pick up should be Chris Anderson. Morey probaly likes his efficient stat work before the drug test.
