Last call for the last call. Spent all day beating last night's hangover just so I could go drink with internet buddies while it's still light out. It's a hard knock life. See you fellas in a few minutes.
Hey Fellers...it was good to hang with y'all this evening. We must do it again soon. Yes I made it home uneventfully, but thanks for the helmet offer!
Who's gonna give the recap? Were there any political flare-ups? Do tell. Did somebody link in Macbeth via video phone?
had a blast fellas. we'll do this again, and hopefully in the spring of next year when I'll be back in town.
Here's the recap. The following were present: Batman (of course) Myself HeyP RocketMan Tex Glynch JBII Rockets Buck Turgidson Rimbaud Mo Balls New guy I wore my authentic UT football helmet which drew the usual ooohs and ahhhs. After a few drinks and good conversation, Batman started doing bird impressions which frightened off Mo Balls who left in a hurry. We went outside and got bit by a thousand mosquitoes. Rimbaud's West Nile Phobia went into full throttle and he darted away in his rented Segway. Somewhere in here the new guy disappeared. He either went to the bathroom or got kidnapped. Call 9-1-1 if he doesn't post again. I can't remember his screen name or real name but keep a lookout. Then RocketMan Tex decided he had enough and drove away in his Lexus. It was either a Lexus or a Corolla. Couldn't see that well through the helmet. We went back inside as HeyP discussed his Bill Walton fetishes. Buck started going crazy, wore my UT Helmet and decided that JVG must give Matt Maloney more minutes next season. He has since promised to follow the Rockets more closely. HeyP started his rant about Kant and that scared Buck away. (Don't ever talk about Kant during a BBS get together). That left Mr. Glynch, JBII, Batman, HeyP, and myself. We left The Harp and headed off to another bar. There, Batman proceeded to down 600 tater tots (all with minimal ketchup). Glynch orderd a grilled chicken salad with crusty garlic toast (slightly burned) and more tater tots. We played darts and with a few lucky tosses, Batman defeated me. I was second, HeyP was third. JBII almost sent 12 people to the emergency room with his errant throws. Think Red Badge of Courage- 2003 - DUCK. After playing for about 2 hours, Glynch decided hitting the dart board was preferable to the cork filled background. Following Batman's lucky win, Glynch decided throwing darts was too much exercise for 1 night and proceeded to leave the premises. At some point, some lucky girl was trying to pick me up. I told her, no, no, Im engaged. Anyway, I digress. We went upstairs and Batman and HeyP started soliciting the tavern wenches for a game of Twister. They struck out so settled on pool. JBII was checking out the hot chick in the white blouse until he realized she was actually a guy. Then he claimed he was looking at the girl behind him. yeah. Ok. Finally, JBII and I decided to leave the premises. I came home, had a cheese doodle, corrected some people in the GARM, wrote this recap and that was it..........
Excellent recap RIET. Sounds like y'all continued to have fun through the evening. Also, the ride is definitely a Lexus. Homey hasn't done a Corolla in a while. Pleasure hanging out with all of you last night!
Great recap RIET....I arrived there around 4:45pm, and wanted to meet you guys before leaving.....You guys are a bunch of really nice guys....Batman is a very cool guy, I hope he does well wherever he goes......RocketMan Tex is just too cool man, thx for the brew!.....Glynch is an awesome person, very .....Buck is freakin young, I pictured this guy old with a beard....nice guy.......JBII is a young buck, be cool stay in school...will wait until the next get together.....Rimbaud, very quiet (didnt get to see him with more beers in him) cool guy...HeyP seemed like a nice guy, I left a little bit after he arrived......RIET........showed up in a UT Football helmet....as soon as I saw him I knew who he was.....I met everyone and then my Newbie Biiiaatch and myself left for dinner...thanks again guys...enjoyed
Good recap, guys. Interestingly we talked about things in this order. Introductions, generalities for a pretty long time, politics relatively briefly--mostly liberal as you know who didn't show up. Finally after a couple of hours and enough beers we got around to talking about the Rockets. HeyPee* then promptly got into a fist fight with JB II Rocket over Cuttino Mobley's value to the team.. JB II has practically every Rocket playoff game since the Hakeem era on tape. Conclusions: Boki Bad: Eddie bad with one abstention and 1 expression of hope: Cuttino good, one objection. Yao, never going to quite be a superstar, with one partial objection. Mo T good with one objection. Rockets strategy is to save $$$ for a few years when they will try to make a big splash. Sad to see Posey and KT go for money reasons. Guess which participant is still lamenting that we let Rhoderic Rhodes go?! * Of course there was no fight. HeyP a nice friendly mild mannered guy is actually puzzled by those fans who find him controversial.
Had a great time, good to meet new folks & see some others again. Despite a heroic intake of Wild Turkey - thanks Tex, if I'd switched to beer midstream, I'd probably be quite hungover right now - I made it to work early this morning. Things I learned: -bartenders assume that if you've had 10 turkey & cokes, you're drunk -James Posey is no longer a member of the Rockets (thanks RIET) -JBII has much to learn about life - actual quote last night, "I can't wait to get out of college & get a job like you guys." Dude...stay in Austin as looooong as possible. Trust me. -Glynch does not rhyme with flinch, but is G. Lynch, and he's a damn good guy -MoBalls expected me to look like a contestant on "Who's More Grizzled?"
hey RIET, just because I said that that helmet makes you look like an end in yourself, and that I like to come to these get togethers as a means to other people's ends, doesn't mean I was ranting about Kant. don't think too hard about what I say. Usually the simplest interpretation is the correct one. I just meant that I think you look like an ******* wearing a UT helmet, and I'd like to bend you over and screw you in the end while you're wearing it.
Hmmm. Last night HeySchweetie was playing "pick up" ball with lesbians and now this comment. Is there a fork in the road for both of you?
Oh...genius idea on the Clark/Dean early announcement, Batman. Didn't see you around when I left, good luck in all your new endeavors, and in finding that massive payday.
