Oh, my only gripe about Encore and Wynn is the distance from everything else on the strip. It's easy to get around during the day but after you've been walking for hours, it starts to take a toll on your feet. And after a reasonable amount of alcohol in your system, it's even harder. I'd love to stay at the Cosmopolitan (or anywhere around it) just because it seems like it's more in the middle of the major spots on the strip.
credit card sandwich trick at the front desk has worked every time i have used it except once at the monte carlo (though I have had it work at the monte carlo as well another time - depends on your clerk) basically shove at least a 20 between your ID and credit card when at the front desk and ask if there are any free upgrades room "promos" going on when handing them the cards. most front desk clerks know what this is implying - they usually will upgrade your room for free for your stay (well the cost of what you put in between the cards) since if there is an open room thats more expensive its less likely they'll be able to sell that room than one that is cheaper and open. if they dont give you an upgrade you could be ballsy and be like oh i gave you a 20/50/100 etc could you break it for me and they should but at the same time you gamble on everything in vegas may as well the room. so if you lose out on 20 bucks its not the worst thing in the world.
I did a Cirque (type) show the last time I was in Vegas and it was awesome. I've heard the big 3 are O, Ka, and La Reve. O and Ka are Cirque shows, La Reve isn't. La Reve was awesome.
I don't seeany for 50 but I do see some for 15 like this http://www.ebay.com/itm/2012-Las-Ve...772?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item1c245a6b4c Is that it?
Go to The Gun Store and shoot machine guns. Its awesome. I agree about The Cosmo, that place is awesome. Also, downtown gambling is totally a better deal. More $10-$15 tables, liberal drinks, and lots of freaks.
I'm going to be at the Excalibur hotel. I don't know much about it other than it's in the middle of the action according to my Controller at my job. He said it's a low end hotel, but it's not a bad place to stay to be close to the action. I've seen some las vegas coupons deals. I'm not sure what to buy though. Any thoughts?
The Excalibur is low end but fine. I've never stayed there but have had meetings there. It's close to the airport and on the strip, what do you want? You can definitely find a $5 blackjack table there. Maybe even a $3 table. There's a tram that will take you (free, as far as I know) through the Luxor (not sure why you'd want to go to the Luxor...) to Mandalay Bay, which is in fact a very nice place.
Two words: March Madness. I take it you're a basketball fan if you're on here. There's nothing like non stop drinking and betting on college basketball. Go to Caesar's Palace - it's crazy out there. Tons of games to bet on for the 1st and 2nd rounds for that weekend!
I was in Vegas a few days ago and stayed at the MGM Grand. The room was pretty lackluster since it was apparently a non renovated room. Other than that it was a nice place to stay. The casino was always lively and it was close to a lot of action along the strip. I was impressed with the cosmopolitan and tropicana. Those look like places I'd like to stay at if I return. We got free tickets to a show while there (Cris Angel) and I cannot recommend anyone going even if they pay you to go. Good lord that show was lame.
I'm not too worried about gambling. I'm not a big gambler myself, but I do plan to play a little. I'm more focus on clubs/shows to go to and places to eat. I saw a lot of coupons on ebay for places, but I don't want to buy anything that will put me away from where action. I know I'm going to probably head to Mandalay bay. I heard that's a great spot to be.
The man speaks the truth - coolest table on the Strip! Jaleo is now one of my favorites on the Strip. The Italian place there, Scarpetta is also pretty damn good. During CES some of us went back to Beso's in Aria since it was the only place we could get a table at the last minute - and it was atrocious. F that place. My favorite brunch spot is Mesa Grill at Caesars - I think it's Bobby Flay's joint. They have some really neat brunch dishes. Great for a hangover. There's a good sushi spot off the path in Bellagio called Sensi. I think Michael Minna is overrated. Try Minna's joint in Aria, American Fish, instead. Delmonico's still has the best steak on the strip IMO. Although tinman might argue Craftsteak at MGM is better. Best clubs, as mentioned, are Marquee and XS. Make sure you reserve a table beforehand, so you don't have to deal with the lines and the riff raff. Surrender is also a cool spot - although much better in the summer since it's mostly outdoors. I've always thought Tao was a tad overrated in the sense that its layout is awful with all the hallways and multiple rooms. Marquee and XS are seriously in a class of their own. I haven't been to the new place in Mirage, 1Oak, but I didn't previously like the layout of Jet all that much. Pure is outdated now, as are places like Rain and Ghostbar. Had an ok time at Moon in Palms about a year ago, but not sure how it is today. Hear really bad things about Haze in Aria.
Mesa grill is great for brunch. I definitely second that idea. The only thing I disagree about is Michael Mina's places. I love his restaurants. It's true I could be biased because there's one in LA that I eat at fairly regularly. Of all the times I've been to Vegas I think Nobhill Tavern in MGM was the best meal I've had. Every single part of the meal was excellent from the bread they bring out to start the meal down to the dessert. Service was also top notch there. But Vegas has so much good food that missing out on that restaurant won't ruin the trip, but I have to make it a point to eat there at least once every time I go.
Try to see a show...we saw O which was amazing! We went over 4th of July weekend so it was harder trying to get in clubs but we did have a table at JET which was cool. As for food, we ate at Tao and Sugar Factory (which was pretty yummy). I agree with the recommendation to go see Freemont. It was awesome at night!
Been to Las Vegas over 50 times (going in 2 weeks actually). Best show I've been to in Las Vegas is Blue Man Group at the Venetian. Its like going to a rock star show with comedy breaking out. Highly recommended.
