I too am getting more optimistic about Dekker; I liked what I saw. I'm not excited about any of our other young talent. It's just one game and we'll see how they develop, but they're 2nd rounders for a reason; they're not really supposed to pan out. You get what you pay for; we consistently undervalue the draft. The only player that played like a 1st round pick was our 1st Round pick. KJ to me has a very long way to go. I'd really like to move him; he needs a lot more development and just has t come around fast enough.
I'm a little worried about Dekker, I'm not sure he'll be able to stay healthy given the reckless way he plays the game. He was flying all over the place taking tumbles. If he can manage to stay healthy, I like what I see, but he plays a really rough version of the game.
Dekker - looked good Harrell - looked good Payton - look ok Beasley - Rebounded well but there is no reason for him to force his game early in the shot clock in SL KJ - can't finish to save his life but did stand out with his effort, it just didn't impact the game positively. KJ should dominate out there. Onuaku - Looked lost Wiltjer - can shoot but is too slow and unathletic to play in the nba the rest were scrubs I don't mind Beasley being there but he should be showing the young players how to play defense and facilitating the offense not dominating it. He should be a calming force on offense and a leader on defense and I didn't see that.
Can anyone tell me if the Rockets summer league game is on tv tomorrow. The only station I see it on is NBA tv at 4 am. Was hoping to see it live.
Interesting article from last year on the life of a non-guaranteed or Summer League player: http://hoopshype.com/2015/08/02/the-life-of-the-non-guaranteed-player/ The life of the non-guaranteed NBA player August 2, 2015- by Bobby Marks 116. 45. 280. Those three numbers are not the code to a bank vault. They are the total number of players participating in the three NBA summer leagues without a guaranteed contract. That’s right: 441 out of the 544 players participating in the Orlando, Utah and Las Vegas Summer League were looking for the opportunity to land short-term security. Landing a guaranteed contract for a fringe player is like winning the golden ticket from Willy Wonka.
You can't make these kinds of judgments after one summer league game, pickup game offense, no training camp, and weeks into a players' career. You might as well watch 2 mins of Youtube highlights on each player and label them as future stars. Let's at least wait until summer league is over.... before we wait until pre-season?
