Summer League last year was a damn disaster in terms of watching the next crop of talent. Last summer was the start of one of the most disappointing season in Rockets history! Hopefully Rockets do better this year. GPII Kyle Wiltjer Dekker Montrezl Capela KJ Onuaku Qi (can he play in the summer league if he's a stash) Goudelock (never too old to suit up for summer) All players I'm interested in seeing play in the summer league. I'm excited. espn....go!
Last year I made the mistake of going. I was so excited to see our rookies. But the only one who played was Harrell; it was a big disappointment. And of course they didn't mention it publicly until right before tip-off. It would have been useful info to know Dekker, for example wasn't going to play in summer league. The time off work and the money spent; kind of a slap in the face to the fans. This year, I'm not going because I'm not supporting this team. I used to get so excited to watch rockets basketball in any form, but now I just feel a sense of anxiety and frustration.
I seriously doubt Clint capela is going to play this summer right now he's slated to be a starter at Center. And I also want to see Gentile I think he fits Pringle can face's offense lol
If you're not supporting the team then why are you on a site dedicated to the team? Just wondering...
Not supporting by flying to Vegas again. That's different than not supporting in general. And btw: I hope we don't get to a point where people can't vent their frustration and come out in opposition to what the team is doing without being branded a non-fan. I've been on this site a while because I love the rockets and enjoy chatting with other fans.
Isaiah Taylor? And I don't think Capela plays although it would be very good for him. Rockets should also sign Russ Smith and Perry Jones III to Summer League as well. Both would be great fits in ME A Scheme. Anyone know who is coaching for Summer League team?
I feel you man. I've been wanting to take time out for summer league for a long time now. I would be pretty damn upset as well if I didn't get to see our young guns (especially after the WCF season)
I did once several years ago (not last year). It was a blast the first time; I highly recommend it. (I met Tibs, Carl Landry, and George Karl). But last year was definitely disappointing. I'm sure it will be fun this year seeing as we have ton of young players who will likely be featured, including our 1st round pick from last year. Notice I said "young players" instead of "young talent". Kidding. Should be fun for whoever goes, but I'm not feeling it this year.
If you have not been to Summer League, the simple answer as to whether or not you should go is YES. It is a surreal experience. On the concourse, in the parking lot, in the concession lines, and everywhere you go you'll be around players, former players, executives, etc. The main court is the Thomas and Mack, which is a big conventional basketball court, but the better option is the smaller court next door. It's like watching professional basketball players in a high school gym. The front row seats in that building are literally right on the players bench, and the absolutely worst seat is probably fifty feet or so off of the court. There is no bad seat, so you get to see and hear absolutely everything that happens in the game. It wasn't the greatest for watching the Rockets last year, they sent a pretty weak squad in hindsight, but it was fascinating all around from a basketball perspective.
