Bringing up Larry Sanders playing in the Easst as a way to trash him is a terrible argument. Let me guess if Patrick Patterson played for Milwaukee he would have them as a top 5 seed in the East.
I was between picking Sanders or Kevin Seraphin off the waiver wire, when both were producing similar stats at the beginning of the season. SO glad I went with the Colonel.
What I'm saying is if PP played for Milwaukee he'd probably put up the same type of "ridiculous" stats. Maybe he won't lead the league in shot blocks but he'll certainly score a lot better than 52% FG. He'd also get a lot of rebs because Milwaukee plays at a fast pace and both Jennings and Ellis like to chuck it up. Houston plays at a fast pace too, but Harden/Lin/Asik/Parsons are all good rebounders.
Patterson would not be putting up any ridiculous stats in Milwaukee. Exactly what type of ridiculous would he be putting up in Milwaukee? You admit that both of the guards in Milwaukee are chuckers while complaining that Sanders is only shooting 52% which by the way isn't bad.
The Larry Sanders Show with another stellar performance tonight in a losing effort: 12 points and 19 rebounds. In other news, should Larry Sanders be defensive player of the year? The evidence is compelling. Uploaded with ImageShack.us "The most effective proximate defender in our study was Larry Sanders; opponents shot only 34.9% when he was within 5 feet of their shot." "Lastly, due to his outstanding performance in both case studies, we conclude by suggesting Larry Sanders is the best interior defender in the NBA." http://www.sloansportsconference.co...of Interior Defense Analytics for the NBA.pdf
Gimme some of dat Larry. I would have loved Sanders at the Rockets, we need another defensive big man.
Sandy wouldn't have developed here anyway, then he'd be traded for Robinson. T-Jones was killing it in summer league, preseason and doing decent work at RGV and he doesn't even sniff the floor despite us being shorthanded. Sometimes if you love something, you have to set it free... Robinson ain't my boy, but let's hope he exceeds expectations.
Not true. If Parsons and Bud got burn as rookies despite being 2nd rounders nonethless...Sanders by all means would have had that same opportunity and capitalized. Pat also got PT a a rookie and showed great promise and capitalized in his oppurtunity. We also gave Mook opportunities last year and he couldn't take advantage of it. Same for TJ this year... He had some chances earlier in the year and looked totally lost. The poster boy for my point is Squid.. Twill imo contrary to popular belief got chances and he didnt show much.. and now?? still not a big loss.Name one player that you think didn't get a fair shake here recently and was traded and blew up on another team?? The only one I can think of is Lin and that's only because we had 2 worthy starters in Lowry and Dragic and a guaranteed contract for that scrub Flynn. Considering PF was our biggest question mark entering the season I'm positive Sanders would have gotten a chance. Furthermore, Sanders is better than anything we have currently or had prior to the trades at the PF spot. It's not even a question... He's far superior compared to Pat. The simple fact that we're recognizing and debating about a guy putting up numbers from arguably the smallest market and least recognized team in the NBA should be reason enough. Sanders is what Parsons is to us and perhaps even more valuable.
Larry Sanders or Dwight on this team right now? Dwight is going to get the max because he was considered the best interior defender in the league. Would you rather have Larry Sanders?
Ppat was good enough to get us Trob, so I'm not complaining much. Larry is pretty good, but it took him 3 seasons to show something.
LOL. Sanders is a great shot blocker and an excellent interior defender. But Dwight is about 4 or 5 levels above him. You guys love hyperbole.
Dwight has a bad back, bad shoulder and bad attitude. Emphasis on the attitude. His salary next season will be Harden's and Asik's combined. Beggars can't be choosers but if I could have Sanders on a rookie scale, I can keep Asik and have two Cs to play 48 minutes a game and as insurance policy. Might even be able to get away with both in the line-up for stints. I then have $11M extra salary I can commit to another valuable player. Sanders will only continue to improve as a player and when he comes off his rookie I can give him his first max extension starting at only $13M.
Drummond is where it's really at though, he should have gone a lot higher than #9. Dion Waiters? SMFH. Harrison Barnes, MKG and Thomas Robinson are role-players. All these teams should have taken a gamble on a potential franchise centre instead of settling.
Every time I read his name it haunts me because I dropped him to pick up Bogut when reports said Bogut was returning a few months earlier than expected. Then Sanders went crazy and started to avg 3+ blocks a game after the "reports" weren't accurate. (fantasy basketball)
