I don't think anybody's going to move on Sanders until after tomorrow. No point in rushing to sign a guy with question marks surrounding him before you have a chance to see who else shakes free before the deadline.
Hopefully they meet with him tomorrow. He lives in LA now and the team is there for the game vs. the Clipps. Perfect opportunity. A guy on another forum said his buddy is a doctor that works for the Rockets in some capacity and that the Rockets were indeed interested in Sanders as a possibility after the deadline.
We sign Sanders, he returns back to prime form, fills all the Rockets needs and weaknesses at the SAME TIME Durant out till next season = Rockets CHAMPIONSHIP...?
Out of all the buy-outs, Sanders actually has the most upside. Unfortunately, he also has the most downside. But, hey, it's Les' money, not mine. Roll those dice, Daryl!
I don't think Rockets management are worried about the cost of signing sanders as much as they're worried about his character and locker room issues after what happened last year.
Basketball Terms, style of play down low. Then quit cuz he had other intentions etc. It's def hard to come back after 2 years of no competition and expect to regain anything you had.
When did Sanders have character or locker room issues? He has issues that are of concern to the GM, an asset that knows it can just walk away any day. He has never been called a bad teammate by a teammate (or I have never heard of it). It's only fans that make it seem like his leaving of the team was unacceptable to his teammates. I'm sure his teammates saw him struggling on a mental and personal level day in day out and the most serious of his teammates were probably happy that a guy who is not mentally checked in walked away instead of dragging the team down or causing locker room issues. Players, btw, don't care about the owner's money as long as they have made their money. For our team, signing him to a minimum and not guaranteeing him minutes is of minimal concern. If he leaves or sucks, they won't care. I would sign him right now. Now that Bogut is gone, he is the only one who might be able to budge a playoff series with just 15 minutes of hard work. If you manage your expectations of him (i.e. don't expect him to become a starter and sign a long term contract and be totally transformed into the most committed player ever) then we can gain something from him, practically for free. I really hope it happens, but I think the team is ill-equipped to deal with complex personalities and we actively stay away from them. Which I don't think is a bad idea. Better to recognize what you don't do well than to keep trying and failing.
