I was looking around on the ESPN Insider, I found out that Larry Hughes might not be tendered an extension, and therefore could be a free agent come July. This might be old news, but you think the Rockets could have any interest in Hughes? I really dislike the 3 guard system of Norris, Francis, and Mobley... I miss having an athletic swingman type player (ala Maria Elie). While Hughes doesn't play good defense and doesn't quite have good 3 point range, he still has enough scoring potential to make a scoring threat off the bench. If what happened to Isiah Rider happens to Hughes this summer, and Hughes is forced to play for the minimum, do you want Hughes?
God no! Please no! Hughes is a terrible shooter and makes poor decisions with the ball. He's exactly what the Rockets don't need.
its sad how you see pseudo potential superstars, just fade away and almost dissapear... Rider Richmond Howard Hardaway Hughes Ceballos ...i dont think any of these guys get enough playing time... sure ill take hughes.
Larry Hughes had a lot of potential coming out of St.Louis I just dont think he ever really learned the game. He has yet to live up to his potential. I'm not sure how he would fit on the rockets.

While I'm not a fan of Larry Hughes, but the Rockets have had gotten lucky while acquiring a SG out of Golden State. For a bench that lacked little punch, I think adding Hughes could be a real asset (if he performs). I would be quite happy if we can sign Hughes to a low cost deal.
Golden State's "Larry Hughes as a point" experiment didn't work, and with J-Rich and Gilbert Arenas in the backcourt i would definitely expect to see him either moved or let go entirely. Hughes would be a good option off the bench as he can provide instant offence and in a pinch can handle some point duties. However the problem is, Hughes will want to start. Unless the Rockets could gaurantee him a starting spot or Hughes is really desperate, i don't see him signing. Actually I think there could be more interest in Hughes than some people think. There are alot of teams in the L, particularly the East who are looking for a point and or a combo guard. Teams like: Atlanta, NY, Boston, Miami (contigent on Strickland), even in the West teams like the Clippers, Minnesota, etc could have interest.
I think he'd make a good backup 2 or 3 but I dont think he'd want to come off the bench. I really liked him in Philly but I don't think he was used effectively. I'd rather see him go back to the Sixers than to come here and not get any playing time.
just what we need, another black hole. i appreciate his skills, but we already have mobley. there is no sence becoming the knicks.
Are you talking about Larry Hughes...... or Steve Francis?... or Cuttino Mobley?... or Moochie Norris?... Hmmmmmmm
longhorn has made one of the few intelligent comments on this whole bbs. im impressed by his lack of total garbage in his post. how can anyone not see that the rockets play 0 defense. we have the worst defensive guards in the league. maybe we should have traded for mark jackson. that would have been an upgrade...
